Satish UK! what a beautiful beautiful car! I struggle for the words. Coming to your query for alloys, the correct period alloys for the W123 if I recollect correctly were commonly known as the turbine rims, if you are a stickler for originality that is. Else, plenty of options on the world wide web for this.

The turbine rims sourcing should not be a problem, get in touch with a imported parts dealer or a good junk yard who has managed to scavenge a set.

But would you really have the heart to replace the elegance of the existing hubs, is another matter and I am afraid the call is all yours.

The correct period rims for the w123 are called the bundt cake style wheels or just the bundt style wheels, the turbine rims came on later models.
If you search for it, you should easily be able to find some.

There was an identical car in Mumbai owned by a Parsi friend around 20 years ago. Was the same colour too!

Indeed, the W126 300SD in question is an American Spec car.

The registration (KA 05 M) is Bangalore South (Jayanagar). The registration dates to about 1995/6- remember seeing a nice 1995 Premier Padmini S1 in Bangalore ages ago, in 2012. The registration number was KA 05 M 20xx.

P.S: Once upon a time, Jayanagar was a simple, 'middle class' locality. How things change....

That W126 looks sick as hell! Always been a dream to own one in black with a blacked out grille, chrome exhaust pipes, BBS rims, 3000k yellow hid lights and purple tint, and be chauffeured around in it by a Trinity look-alike dressed in her all black Matrix attire

THOSE FINTAILS! (Pun intended!) The chrome trim is in very good condition, after nearly fifty years in existence.

Now, THAT is build quality.

190D. The best selling, and by far the most popular MB Fintail, IIRC was the 200D. Although, in Indian shores, I see the 190D quite frequently.

These lower end Fintail Mercs were very reliable, were built really tough, and were *loved* by 'em European Taxi operators.

Engines (particularly the Diesels) are known to be very long lasting.

MHH - would be a late 'Sixties Poona number. Note the period 'casted' number plates. Each of the characters has been casted, and then bolted onto the number plate.

Worth noting is the fact, that the tri-pointed star is curved, according to the contours of the rear boot/trunk.
