Thank you for digging out this photo of Sheikh Sahib. I feel vindicated for my insistence on having seen a write up in Filmfare way back. In the American auto magazine , the car was blue but it mentioned Sheikh sahib and the car's travel from India thru gulf , europe and US. Good research, sir.

Vinay ,
there are lot of things against the W126 300 SD , Lot of rust , rear glass replacement , issue with internal electricals ( though that is common is 126 ) , no battery , docs clear till 2012 , no insurance , car in hyd , Seats and roof need a full re do .
Thanks Rovergen, the restoration aspects is one angle. the other angle before investing revolves around a few pertinent questions:
does prospective buyer ever get to see and read the RC book of this car during inspection?
Is the book with its ex owner near Ulsoor at Bangalore?
was this car in the possession of another person at Hyderabad till 2015?
did the current owner really own the car since seven years? or just the past few weeks?
are you given verbal assurances of these RC book issues being 'ironed out soon' ?
will there be any formal transfer of ownership without difficulties?
in a nutshell, buyer beware.
was not the w140 infamous for its electrical issues?
w140s had electrical wiring harnesses of eco-friendly materials that deteriorate with time , eg 20 years. The electronics had increased substantially as well.
Best to invest in a new wiring harness after buying your w140. The risk of Loss due to Fire also reduces substantially, I hope.
1970 petrol Mercedes w115 at Mumbai . Lovely !
Found this poor w126 in a residential area in Kammanahalli, Bengaluru.
Sad to see a 300 SEL in this condition.
My latest Star. Always loved the w123s.

Why do you say "fool buyers"? These could be actual, realistic prices... unfortunately some unscrupulous folks have hiked prices.

Please do see the image of the 1936 Mercedes closely. There is a similar car in Delhi at a very famous work shop . Secondly I am sure the guy missed a zero as this car in the add is a two door cabriolet. Rare over all
Cheers

Here is an uncommon view of that fabulous car - Delhi, 1961
I believe that twin flag masts mounted on the fender
inner have long been a Mercedes tradition.
