a dealer i met this week while shopping had a blue fabric set of seats of a w201 for sale in good condition for about Rs 5000/-.

he also had a w124 E220 petrol engine & gear box for about Rs 30,000/-.

did any of us need the same ?

The W123s are vanishing fast and i know because i have been wanting a particular kind for ages. I almost confirmed one though i wanted am automatic but the car was in great condition so i settled for the manual and before i could go and pay up someone beat me to it and paid the guy 75k more..!! Just realized one must not wait for a minute when everything is fine.

Right now keeping fingers crossed and negotiating for a unique and very well kept Euro spec 300D Turbo diesel LHD auto but with Euro lights and bumpers and yes these are original. Its a 1984 and had it been an American spec would have had extended bumpers and the round sealed beams. Wish me luck for this one as its really really good!!

I saw this very neat and clean Mercedes at Lord Reay museum in Pune. It was complete in all aspects. It had 200D something written at the back. And it was immaculately maintained. Which Mercedes is this? Are the ORVMS standard or are they added later on?

The car is a Mercedes-Benz W123. Production- 1976 through 1985.
Assuming that the car is a 200D, the car was powered by the OM615. If a 240D, powered by the OM616. And if 300D, powered by the OM617.
Built to European specifications.

The car is a genuine eighties car. Post -facelift. Registration is eighties-Bombay.

BTW, on seeing the background, I thought that the car was in the Poona University or some place. Since, I go regularly go the to the University, so as to attend additional lectures pertinent to astrophysics. I was wondering, why on earth was I not aware of the car!

As regards to the ORVMS, well, the W123 was one helluva car! Surely they came as standard! The ones on this look quite similar to the originals.

My hands were trembling as I dialed the number. 'Heck I have been searching for a w123 for years now but if my eyes could be trusted over the exploded pic on my laptop the this could be a real find! But the add says its a Diesel...could it be a mistake by a dealer who was in a hurry to list the car?'

All hopes came crashing down when he the owner told me in his fake accented English made even more obnoxious by the frequent grammatical errors that he had converted the car to Diesel...

what a shame, they're now on the market for 7L+, i believe the car has no papers, hence being scrapped so no hope in restoring either
