Not necessarily modified, but indeed tastefully maintained. Nice to see the effort taken to keep these classics shining at their best. |
The car is a US spec W123 240D Automatic.
Note the fact that it is LHD. Also, the bumpers give it away.
Note the Sealed-Beam Head-Lamps/Fog Lamps.
The yellow fog lamps point to the fact that the car is post 1979.
Cheers!
Superb beauty in blue there...
Perhaps could have been repainted once but lovely to see the original Becker Europa radio still intact....

For goodness sake! That
IS NOT a W111! It is obviously fabricated!
If it really were genuine, I would ..................... Lets not talk about it, shall we?

The W123 is genuine! Wondering, if it is a 240D, how on earth does it manage to lug about the extended wheelbase? The 240Ds were so slow, goodness! But, downright reliable! Married men would trust their 240Ds, more than their wives!
A 240D would never be accused of leaving anyone in the lurch.
Plenty of them are still around, in East Africa.
Something is fishy with the wheel rims though.
Cheers!

Excellent price!
However, in the classifieds I do recall the seller stating that the car has its
ORIGINAL engine.
So the car might be a diesel, but it is not Dieselized.
Cheers!
classics at Bangalore : a 240D w115 1974 model , and another nice w123 (looks similar to the immaculate Kerala car #3474 at the top of this page )

If I am correct, the w115 belonged to a major coffee planter who later moved abroad. It has seen better days. Those head restraints are not the genuine item. They used to be of a winged profile
Spotted this lovely Merc SL500 in Delhi some years back.
Good job, Nandish and Subramani !
to sum up : the R129s and the S classes were impressive and polished ! many w124s . the cars of the 80s and earlier were few. convenient peaceful venue. tasty breakfast. good weather. fairly good turnout.
