In fact, Big B for the first time made (car) news in the mid 70's, when after the success of Zanjeer and Deewar, he bid for the Merc ( don't remember whether it was a S Class or a 600 Pullman) of Osho Rajneesh that went under the hammer in Pune. The price asked for was something above Rs 7 L which was quite high a cost during the times.

This car seems to have made an appearance in a number of 60s and 70s movies, including this one- YAAR MERE.

Also note in this movie, 3 different models of Heralds, in the same colour! :)

Is that the original 6-cyl. engine in the Chevy 1.5ton(?) truck?

From the movie "Lal Bungla" - what caught my attention was this station wagon that seems to have been custom-built on a sedan body. Though rather crude and not too attractive IMHO!

Seems to be based on a 46/47 Ford or Mercury. The earlier car is a Chevy Fleetmaster.

Here is a video from Kanyadaan (1968) and the song "likhe jo khat tujhe". The photographer has taken utmost "CARE" that the car should not be fully seen - don't know why? Seen here are Shashi Kapoor and Asha Parekh who lipsync and are in lead roles.

The car is most likely a Desoto Diplomat (front grille treatment) convertible (1954-57) assembled at Kurla, Bombay.

Completely off topic, but anyone who saw the video clip would notice the gorgeous bungalow that the Peugeot drives out of. It took me a few minutes but I recognise it as the place down the road from me, earlier mentioned here

From an early 80s movie that I came across for the first time- DIAL 100.
This "topless" Standard Herald mk1- and another made to look like the same car if you notice- appears in quite a few scenes. Plus a couple of 'usual' cars like 70s Merc. :D

And an early Plymouth 'Cuda!

Is that Truck a WW2 Ford?

Nice find. This could be the Barracuda, pic taken while under restoration a few years ago.

Cheers harit

A '61 Chevy Impala from the movie "TERE MERE SAPNE" - no other interesting cars I could find in it.

And some pics. from another movie- "HULCHUL"

Apart from the Simca 1301 and Fiat 1100 'Deluxe' (similar to John A Milne's car), the Amby mk2 looks particularly interesting with the body trim and tail fins a la 1956/56 Dodges. I remember reading in an Auto India (or Autocar) article on the Amby many years ago, that this was a custom job made on Ambys by a Midtown(?) Motors in Bombay back in the day. Anyone seen any more examples like this? Would be collectible today, if surviving?
Incidentally, 'wish HM had thought of something like this, atleast for the 60s! :D

This lovely Standard Herald mk1- painted silver, with some 'fancy' (but nice!) hubcaps and a cheap local chrome bumper capping- appears throughout a 1973 Bollywood movie- Dhund (Fog)...along with a few other nice cars of course! :)

PS: Thanks to a 'long-distance' friend, Dr. Avinash Gujarati who informed me about this movie/car!
