Ah, yes! Thank you!
It looks like a Mark I since the grille is separate from the headlight/indicator units (while on the Mark II the grille is flush with the lights)

Sunbeam and Alvis had this sort of a "V" radiator grill.

It would be a 1948 Fleetmaster if it had the vertical center piece, and you are correct, without a view of the grill we are left to wonder and ponder. As for the fleet of RR's, I wouldn't have expected any less accuracy than was shown by the "car nuts" of India. Amazing!

Re: Unidentified Vintage and Classic cars in India

Maybe but if you visit the lanes of Banashankari (in particular), Jayanagar and Koramangala, you will be surprised by the number of classics you will find! Not the vintage variety exactly but cars from the 60s to 89s are easily found. I had even spotted the rare Mahindra classics there!

Re: Unidentified Vintage and Classic cars in India

I am pretty sure it is an Austin - but not sure of the model. There is one in Mumbai too - in probably a non running condition.

Edit : Its an Austin / Morris 1100 MK1.

MODS: Apologies if I am deviating and please delete if this violates rules, but could not locate a thread for Unidentified Vintage Cars in other countries

While going thru an old album I found a picture of my Uncle in the USA with a car that I have no clue which one it is. Can anyone help identify which car is the one in the picture?

I think the car posted by vsrivatsa is a 1973 Olds Cutlass. The Hurst was a high performance version; and for 1972 believe came in either black or white, with contrasting gold decals. The rear quarter windows on the Hurst were "opera" style (smaller); and there were louvres on the bonnet top.

Re: Unidentified Vintage and Classic cars in India

Here is a very interesting find - shot at a Calcutta Statesman event around 1969/70, it appears to be a 1930s Fiat Balilla, but with a very stylish sport roadster body - I've never seen anything like it, and it definitely looks professionally built. Over to the experts.

Nice find Karl! Going by the vertical grille, it appears to be a 1932 Balilla 508S "Spyder". This car may be a one-off, since I cannot find the exact body on the web.

A later (1934) is shown in the attachment.

Looks like Wankaner had a mid-30's one too (page 302 Automobiles of the Maharajas)
