When I first read 99%, for a moment I thought of the car. That vent went away, and if the whole car had been visible, you would have noted that the radiator shell is not original. Apparently there is a story to the procurement of the car.
Was there not one more car which is in a Museum in Europe?

But excellent spotting Karlthumbs up. You are more productive when on leave.

Hey, what happened? I put thumbs up, and suddenly "r" and "l" disappear and rolling laughter is seen. Some goof up here!

Re: Unidentified Vintage and Classic cars in India

Hello, Cyrus. I might suggest the Chevrolet Pickup is a 1941 model. The difference being in the space between the horizontal grill bars on top and the verticle bars spanning out beneath. On the 1941, the space between is chrome-plated, on the 1946 and later, til changes in 1949, the space is painted.

Re: Unidentified Vintage and Classic cars in India

I got this photo recently. The location is in India, I know that. But what is this car? Looks like a pre 1915 model.

This is a widely traveled Jaguar SS 100 which travelled from Kolkata to Delhi, onwards to Mumbai, changed ownership in Mumbai itself, and now has gone to Hyderabad. Last owner was a famous Bollywood actor.
It has racing history in Kolkata, and has undergone some modifications through its life. Probably the only SS 100 left in India, and a very well known car. Congrats to the new owners.

Reminds me of an old quote i read somewhere on tbhp. Something like "owner/seller has the right to ask what he pleases and the buyer can either accept or not" No point getting worked up about it/being to specific or critical not the culture here sir. Surprised to see you post it. Best of luck with your hunt and god speed, god knows we all need it

Not worked up & seriously not a car that would trouble me for not getting it. The reason is that the car was with a few brokers who have been knocking and showing the car to so called select few . The owner was not directly involved at all so the quote would be applicable then only . Hope it's reached a good home that all.

Cheers

Re: Unidentified Vintage and Classic cars in India

Hopefully the latest buyer will do something about the mechanicals. This car was being marketed immediately after the first Cartier show by a prominent gentleman in Poona. Quite frankly, with no disrespect meant, a Herald drove better.

Price is not to be discussed on the forum and really is of no interest to me, just that I felt it overpriced, but obviously someone thought otherwise. The seller may not know the price the car went for, the middleman having kept a large margin for his efforts

The seller had another very interesting car, wonder what fate is in store for that? Hopefully will get the restoration it deserves.

Is the 'other' car a Citroen? A DS/ID or something like that?
