re: Classic Bentleys in India

I recently recieved these interesting links on Baroda cars.

Rulers of Baroda

RREC Design 2

There is a photo of Bentley MK VI #B30AK which I don't think has been posted before.

Happy reading.

A casual search on 8 litres revealed a lovely fact. Of the 100 cars produced two were modified by Mckenzie, one of which is the other Bentley in India!
Ooh lala!! My softest of soft spots are reserved for Bentleys and Rolls' and in particular the wonderful "Blower" and 8 Litre Bentleys.

These special WOs are almost the reason I joined this forum, and I am so glad I could find this thread again... You guys have not one but two of these cars! There is nowhere online where you can find a discussion of all the McKenzie mod'ed cars...

I looked at Wikipedia and it seems that there were 4 Mckenzie cars? So double the number above, but still super rare. Here's the link: Bentley 8 Litre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ....Has anyone driven the McKenzie modified Bentley on here? Can you tell me how it compares to the "normal" 8 Litre? The torque must be ENORMOUS given the extra SU and the huge cubic capacity on a regular 8 Litre anyway...

This is an excellent site for vintage Bentleys by the way - use it all the time. Vintage Bentley cars (1919 to 1931) :: 3-litre, 6½-litre, 4½-litre, 4½-litre S/C, 8-litre & 4-litre :: Info & photographs

It is wonderful to know that all 4 cars still exist, though sadly not one seems to have its original body. :( What's with the doors on the white car though - not my cup of tea?

Is it possible to see pictures of both the Indian 8 Litres now that they have been restored....this is quite an old thread...? Are these cars being used or shown abroad at all? One must run old(er) cars, it's the best medicine.

Are there any forgotten Blower Bentleys in India?

I can see that there is a WO thread, but hope it's ok to discuss this here as the other one is very short and this seems to have more people who know about these cars.

I think it does in Delhi. A picture of the car is posted in the Derby Bentleys thread

Possibly this is the car? Picture was from the forum, I think part of the Sanghi collection, subject to correction.

Re: Classic Bentleys in India

That picture was given to me along with the one of the Holkar Bentley that is said to be in Delhi by a car broker long ago,

Both were said to be for sale back then.

Re: Classic Bentleys in India

Wasif shared this screenshot that has been taken from a clip of Pandit Nehru’s first visit to Hyderabad after the Police Action. It shows him get off the plane at Begumpet airport and get into a Bentley convertible.

The clip is on the Paigah’s of the Deccan FB page.

Can anyone identify which car this could be?

It looks like Prince Azamjah's car which Prince Mukkaramjah later took to Australia. I was too young to clearly remember the colours of this car but I do know it was a convertible and of similar appearance as this car.

Both cars were with Rana Barwani, one is now with Sanghi, the fate of the Holkar car is unknown. Barwani's photograph sitting in the Holkar car was published in the Pebble Beach souvenir.

Around that time Nehru also travelled through the streets of Hyderabad in an open Humber.

Cheers harit

I think the Holkar Bentley is in the middle east now with one Sheik who feels he is the re encarnation of YR Holkar !

These pics actually came from your friends the Solanki brothers.

So is that Bentley with Pandit Nehru is an original Hyderabad car ? The open Humber may have belonged to the Army

True he does think he is and has also taken parts of the Lal Mahal of Indore there and the bentley was illegally exported in 2001 / 2002

Re: Classic Bentleys in India

You guys really should organise a Bentley and Rolls day or event. There appear to be enough cars to fill a small venue?

WOs on one side and then post 1932 Bentleys and Rolls' on the other side. What a lovely scene that would be.

I would come down for this.

You give us a date in the coming winter months and we will arrange a drive. It would be great if you came down with a Bentley. Maybe we could even plan a drive to a nearby place if you are game.

Re: Classic Bentleys in India

These gems were shared recently of the ex Bhopal Bentley 4 1/4 litre B77MX. Shot in 1966 near Allied Motors (Connaught Place?)

The car is black today and in an enviable Delhi collection. It looks simply stunning! Can anyone confirm the coachbuilder?
