Has this Hyderabad car as posted by Vintage Khan survived?

The front bumper and bell in front seems to have a jewel lamp are both unique.

I believe that this car is alive in UK.
There was also a 20 HP, believed to be older to Pranlal's car.
Soon some write-up on this car is expected to appear somewhere.

Cheers harit

Looks like a Phantom 1 and the Bumpers from an american 40s car or are they Packard style bumpers - DKG please verify. Nice barrel bodied car also could be Barker.

Cheers

Here is a 1920 Barker Ghost, number 46PE. The description reads

Quote:
This car has just emerged after many years storage in an Italian barn. When new the car was ordered by one A. H.Moosa Esq & was shipped to Bombay in India. Later in 1928 the car found its way to Durban in South Africa.

The text further reads

Quote:
It is a 1921 chassis with a much earlier Barker body fitted which we believe came out of India from another Ghost. The car is currently at Marque specialists: The Priory Vintage Car Co., for a full servicing & recommissioning. A report from them will soon follow.

SOS!

Hi all,

This is to request information on a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Tourer (Barker Body) which once belonged to my Great-Great-Grand father Late. Rasool Yar Jung a nobleman of high ranking in Hyderabad-Deccan, India. Please find below a photograph of that car.

Some experts believe that this Rolls Royce is Chassis 61-CW. The car was ordered and delivered to H.H. The Nawab of Jaora, India in the 1920s. My Great-Great-Grand father appears to have bought this RR from him subsequently. I have obtained the Chassis card/Order card of this car, which can be seen below. I am reliably informed that my Great-Great-Grand father also owned a Rolls Royce Phantom -1 Chassis # 83-SC.

I am searching for documents/records that establish his ownership of these cars thru possibly any sales or service records at RR or its dealers in India at that time or via any other source.

You are hereby requested to kindly assist me in tracing these cars and there wherabouts as i intend to find out if they have managed to survive to this day.

Any help or support in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Gratefully Yours,

Vintage Khan

Thanks for sharing the history.

I guess travancore would be right person to help you crack this. Send him a PM, I am sure he is equally interested to find out about this car.

Cheers

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Here are 3 pictures of an Indian family with a Rolls. Cannot say for sure that this is in India, the driver appears to be a European. Earlier there were drivers from UK working in India, but these pictures seem to be from around 1950 because of the Austin seen. Unfortunately the number plate is covered. Anyway, here are three pictures.

Cheers harit

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Harit, this is a 1937 25/30HP Hooper lim. My recs only show 1 example in India. It was bought new by George Newall Nairn, who had a jute business there. He married a Miss Edith Tolley in Barrackpore in 1889. Does it help ?
Re. the Jaora car (#61CW), the sales cards show that it was bought in 1932 by Rasool Yar Jung. Since Vintage Khan informed us that the car was owned at some time by Rasool's son, Naheeb, this is all consistent and I think it confirms the id. of the car. It had an "engine turned aluminium dashboard" like the Bugattis.

We see an English association badge - it appears to be a common one, though I cannot identify. Were these fitted in India back in the day? That could be a clue.

Their attire though does strongly suggest this was shot abroad.

Many thanks for the confirmation Park-ward. Wondered if i could request for a copy of the sales card / records of RR with Rasool Yar Jung or Habeeb Yar Jung's name. It would be a precious addition to my Automobilia. Your help is much appreciated.

Cheers!
