More advertisements from the 1980's- The "winds of change" for our till then stagnating auto industry.













The Rolls Corniche advertisement appeared as Rolls had Avon tyres fitted as OE. Vikrant Tyres collaborated with Avon and brought out this advertisement.

Thats a Bajaj Cub ad from 1985-In fact the Cub came along in the third quarter of 1985.

these are two ads from June 1977. One is the HM Hindustan (earlier) Bedford truck ad and the other shows the Mahindra range.Note the re-entry of the Mahindra Station Wagon again in 1977 for a year or two. My office owned one such neo Station Wagon which was very comfy to travel for long distances in those times.

Publicity brochures of the Yamaha RX 100, Hero Honda CD 100 and the Kawasaki Bajaj KB 100 before these were launched.

Ideal days those were for Ideal Jawa

And also for Premier Automobiles

A carmaker from Bangladesh collaborating with GM (Vauxhall). This was displayed at a Asia 72 pavilion in New Delhi. I am not aware of where the Pragoti Industries is now. The body shell resembles a generation older than the Contessa (Vauxhall Victor 1974). The windscreen has rounded edges.



The mid 1980's for Ideal Jawa

This is an old Cherry Blossom advertisement from May 1969.The contest lists the first prize as an Ambassador car and the second one as a Lambretta scooter.

The last one is a Lincoln Continental advertisement from the 1980's

A very common Bajaj scooter advertisement from 1985. Almost every other magazine carried it and it was still bookings and huge waiting lists when these advertisements were published.It was only 1989 that the scooter became readily available.

My god . Anjan Sir you have a treasure trove . This surely is inspiring , let me take out my collection of old Mags and post some nice Pics.

My brother from US sent me the pic of this Citroen Advertise which he spotted on his recent France visit, in one restaurant in Paris.

AFAIK mid 80's was the time they started to advertise their scooters at all. I don't remember seeing Bajaj ads during my college days - very late 70's - though I distinctly remember Vijay,Lamby and Rajdoot ads.

I think Bajaj ads started in early 80's with the spread of Television all over india as a part of ASIAD1982 (each day a new television tower was inaugaurated in some part of the country)
