Pavan, any follow-up on this car??

Meanwhile, here's a 4-door Herald said to be for sale at a local dealer here. At a steep price! Pic. taken by our tbhpian suren.

Looks good in the two-tone paint. All original too, except for the hubcaps.

'hope it finds a good home.

Why? If you're (or anyone else is) interested in buying it I dont mind revealing it, maybe on pm. I didnt want to create a digression on price-related topics in this thread, which is also why I didnt mention the price.

I doubt whether it will find a home that soon considering the unrealistic price demanded by the dealers for it -2.5 lakhs

This is a Standard Herald Convert -able . Standard never sold convertible cars in India. However to convert the car is very easy at the roof come off when you remove a few bolts.

Cheers

Good one there KPS. Convert - abled. I think it wasn.t even bolts, but few SS Screws 4 from inside the boot and 4 from the Front Glass Beading line - or was it a lipping system in front - I can't recall now

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

As far as I know this type of hubcap came as original with the Heralds right up to the 4 door. The Gazel had different hubcaps.

No, only the mk1 (1961-65) and the early mk2 Heralds ('66-67) did.
The later mk2 (with the'flat' bootlid) and mk3 (4-door) Heralds came with the 'dimpled' Gazel type hubcaps. I've seen atleast 4-5 mk3 Heralds since my childhood, including one in the colony where I grew up, which were all very original cars and had the dimpled hubcaps.

For further evidence, here are pics. of a later mk2 and a mk3 I've known since many years, both of which still have their original hubcaps intact, although the cars are unfortunately gone to the point of no return, especially the mk3!

The mk2:

Some more pics. of the car taken by another friend:

And the car now looked familiar to me...because it was! Here it is before restoration:

I must say quite a good job's been done on it, especially fitting the missing trims. They seem to have been fabricated. Still got the incorrect mkII badge on the bootlid though I gave the owner the correct (mk3) one!
