By all means! I'm sure we all would love to see them!

Were you able to source the grille and front bumper?

My Pennant is almost done as far as tinkering and patchwork is concerned- only the floors are pending.

No work could be done yesterday because of the heavy rains!

Today its quite better, hope its ready by 15th!

Dear Stanher,
Bumpers came from Australia. Had a tough time getting them out of Customs because the law prohibits import of used parts !! The grille sourced locally;it was the same one that had been stolen from this car !!

A little more of a sneak peek on my pennant (when oh when AM I going to start a whole thread on it?? :sigh: )

Car is still in the process of getting done up (the patchwork is nearly done today but the painting would take atleast 4 days!) so it wont be ready for the 15th august rally I'm afraid! :(

'only thing that has cheered me up a bit today is that the front grille (modified from part of an amby grille) has finally been fitted and theyve fitted the assembly on the car, just to check how well it fits- it will be taken off again during the painting.

'looks as good as the original at a casual glance! Also a little adjustment has been done on the bonnet opening hook so opening the bonnet is easier now.

Hey nice pics. Cy! Although they have been posted before, always feels great to look at Herald pics. even if again and again!

I must really hand it over to this guy for the care he takes in painting the cars, especially the mk1- I'm yet to find a painter who covers up the steering wheel/column of the car while painting, even in more "professional" garages! I'm going to insist they do the same to my pennant as well while painting the car!
Btw, I didnt get why you'd said this car isnt as good as it looks, although you may know better, having seen it.

The yellow mk2 Herald's soft-top doesnt look too well-executed though, note how its turned out a bit too long at the front. Also nice to see a pennant glove-box cleverly put to use on its dash!

My team covers steering wheel, masks the trims , instruments, tyres before painting. That's a standard practice

Well, arent you supposed to take the Steering wheel, steering rack and every other mechanical component out before painting the car?? At least that is how we do it!!

Uh, but wouldnt you require to move the car a bit back or forth sometimes, say to make space or something? So wouldnt that be a problem then?

Standard cars in India-brit-cars.jpg

This Standard 10 Pennant BYH 4996, a 1960 example, located in Nagpur was fit and fine till 2004 and in regular use. A senior citizen used to drive it. I do not see it anymore.

That looks like a reasonably decent pennant- looks identical to Karl's pennant!
I hope its in safe hands! BYH would be a pune regn. though.

Coincidentally, did you know of this Pennant BYJ 4114 (nagpur regn.?) that was lying for years in a scrapyard in pune, until it was once used for a film shoot in the movie "khaki" and sadly blown up in the process!
Here are the 'before' and 'after' shots of it.

Incidentally, sorry forgot to ask this- wasnt the Morris Minor beside the BYH pennant formerly owned by the Maharaja of Mysore?

I recall reading about it (maybe photo'd at the same show) in Auto India once.

Im thrilled to see a car so similar to mine. Do try and contact the owner, I would love to exchange stories with him.

Incidentally I remember someone last year had posted pic.s of a rally in a smaller city of MH (nagpur only I think), which had a navy blue pennant with a silver stripe down the bonnet, referred to as "standard 10 deluxe"

I cant recall the number but could it be the same car repainted?
