Where did you take the HP figures from? hp as used here means the CC divided by 100 and then rounded off, not hp as in BHP. This was a popular style in India in the olden days. 350 CC Bullet's horse power used to be mentioned as 3.5.

GTA, nice pics.!
I guessed that these were the cars you'd told me bout on the phone. I'd even asked if the Gazel was this blue one but 'thought I heard you say its a grey one...?

Anyways, both are the earliest examples of their respective models. herald is a '61/62 mk1 and Gazel an early 70s mk1 (same colour as ours btw!)

When you say blue, what came to my mind was a bright blue !!
Also, Is that a fiat air cleaner on the Gazelle?? Looks identical.

And also, are those Fiat indicator lights on the herald?

@Karl-With that kind of Camber on the rear wheels, Are you sure that it moves?

Camber is the least of the reasons why I would have thought the car doesnt move.

I see it missing from that spot every now and then, and a friend who went to purchase the car some time back took a spin too. It has an LPG kit fitted. The owner was expecting a lakh of rupees I was told later.

It used to have an Ensign badge on the bonnet earlier too. Seems to be missing now. Cyrus, what have you been upto?

Hmm.....interesting!

The bonnet badge (which was half intact then) is gone- most likely not on its own power?

ssshhh!!! Dont tell anyone!! ..As you didnt set up a bhpians meet when i was in pune, i decided to take the badge !!

Ohh btw if anyone is interested in free medicine, there is a garage full of that next to the gazelle. And the best part is that they are all usable i.e. unexpired medicine..

What is the difference in Mk1 Heralds, Mk2 Heralds...etc?

I wouldve asked you for it had it been complete, with the standard plate. Since it isnt, luckily for you I wouldnt bother. :P

Ahh so i am suppose to do your dirty work now eh??

If i find that herald guy(original mk1 from my colony), and if he is willing to sell it, i am most definately going to try and persuade dad for it. The only problem is, dad dislikes them...

Here's my '62 mk1 Herald getting ready for the paint stripdown. The rear roof trim and badges (& yes the numberplate) are yet to be removed though- the screws are stuck hence difficult to take off immediately. 'just a little eye-candy- am planning to post in more detail of the whole process......someday!

And here's the mk2 sold by the garage owner just in the final stages of its rebuild. Also a perfect chance for me to check out their workmanship.
