Besides the main headlamps there is an orange parking lamp (seem to be the Lucas L691 design). To the side of the park lamp will be the side indicator - I think they had white lenses, not sure. Does anyone have any images of the originals, or a description from memory?

Hi Stanher,
I am happy you liked the car.It has been 2 years since I bought the car and it has taken a lot of effort to get her to this shape. If you could recollect you were kind enough to part with some spares.Would like to thank you for the help.
I would also like to thank Mr Ananth for the advice he gave me in restoring her.Infact he is a source of inspiration to me.

Glad to be of help!
BTW- are your tyres new? If so, do you mind sharing where you could procure them from? They seem to be CEAT?

Re: Standard cars in India

Venkat Kumar, you have done a first class job of the restoration and chosen a beautiful alluring period colour. Please post more photos if time permits - engine, rear, close-ups of the controls etc. We would like to feast our eyes. I believe the metal gauge of these older Standards was thicker than the newer 'Herald' series and wore better against corrosion. happy Sunday motoring. Best regards, Narayan

Hi Venkat,

Simply one word "Fantastic"

Can you also be kind enough to post some pictures of engine bay as well ?

Or even better - start a thread of its own with pictures from Before & After. Such an effort requires an exhibition of the efforts as an inspiration for other like minded people.

Best Regards & Drive Safe

Re: Standard cars in India

My uncle owned a powder blue Standard Vanguard Phase II Saloon till about 6-7 years ago, though not in working condition (Registration : WBD 7241). In a heartbreaking turn of events the car was sent off to the scrapyard by relatives during a property dispute.. :-( I have searched the presence of this particular car in India since that time but returned negative results. So it seems my uncle's worst fears are true - that was the last surviving Vanguard Phase II Saloon in India! Can somebody reconfirm if this is true or is there any other surviving sister of this rare beauty in the country?
