The Kingsway has been standing over 35yrs and the car does not start as per the seller. The car does not have papers. The asking price is 6.5L despite all this,I wanted to know if he is willing to negotiate as I could use a donor car, but he said he has an offer for 6L. Wonder who would put up that kind of money for a car you cannot drive or exhibit anywhere.

IMO these people are not really wanting to sell..Rather they are just gauging the market and in turn wasting other peoples time and effort. An ambassador Landmaster was up for 1.75L some time ago. As the guy started receiving many phone calls it went upto 3L. It is still parked in his place to this day..

These are not sellers who are on the verge of bankruptcy and needs some cash at the earliest. They can very well wait as long as they want and let go of it only when they get a good offer. If they don't get a good offer, they don't have any urgency to sell.

If its a well maintained classic, the price would definitely go up with age unlike a normal car that gets hit with depreciation. So they don't lose anything by holding on to it for some more time.

Not sure where this theory came from or the relevance to car loves post. There is that small little continuous process called deterioration, most of these end up being worse than they were when they first put up for sale. In most cases the cars need regular upkeep = more money going into them or they are not worth re looking down the line anyway. Been there done it and can tell you more than half the cars don't get sold anywhere close the original asking and an extremely large amount are not what they seem or look. Ambassadors/land masters are available at throw away prices if you know where to look. So let's not kid ourselves, those frothy days of speculation are long gone.

Really A1 cars are sold by true enthusiast to other equally mad buyers at prices reasonable to what some folks like to circulate through dealers and web ads, again been there done that. Car love you are spot on cars from speculators who keep raising prices that too on amby wow must be on something

I have interesting stories regarding such absurdities. I had gone nearly two years ago to look at an off roader. It was a wild modification and a good one at that..He was asking 14.5L for it. I thought its fair value was like 9 so to probe him i asked at what price he would finally part with it for? He said he had a ready offer for 14 but was not parting. Now isn't that silly not parting with it for 50k less than advertised? Obviously it was a kiddish lie and by the way it is still parked in his porch with cover and all..
