The whole scene is a bubble waiting to pop. I see elongated period of stagnation, do believe quality kept cars which have really grade A restoration and or intact cars will attract interest whether transactions happen is anyone's guess. I can say a few collectible (global std) cars have changed hands privately between owner to owner without the degenerate dealers involved at prices much lower than touted here, on the valuation thread, and outside. Most Indian classics and or regular variety American muscle sedans will never be worth what people are asking even if someone pays today they will never recover the money. I say this after interacting a fair bit with the real veterans who chose to stay away from such forums as they have found fair amount fluff these past few years. Hope this benefits folks who wish to get more clarity on the subject and its undertones

Yes you are correct. It is a genuine car and a genuine ad
But the asking price is unfortunately doesnt seem genuine, Seventeen lakhs for a 56 plymouth sedan which has not been started for 10-15 years and requires cosmetic restoration!! |
Zeros certainly make a difference. We had the same model and the same color which was sold for 17,000/-. But the good thing was that we had a heck of a good time in this car as kids. :)

This is not as Original as the AD Claims.
Its a 1969 and the papers are of 1964.
Bad bodyline, paint job mediocre. Many un-original parts. The car is lying with its Engine down right now and is not in running order.

I haven't seen the wagon before, but there used to be so many in Pune earlier, I'm sure a fair amount survive.
The Hillman I think was advertised for sale some time back in Kolhapur.
Hello gentlemen, need some help. Have been seeing this Landrover Series 2 rot all these years.Want to approach the owner to sell the vehicle, he says its a family heirloom!!
The bulkhead and floor is pretty shot. The Engine has been replaced with a Perkins Diesel.
I can safely assume its a 1960-65 model. Papers missing. Vehicle has not budged an inch since the last 9 years. What do you gentlemen think would be the offer I should make. I understand that the restoration is going to be tedious and expensive. Do let me know !!

I would suggest that you drop the project. Not original, no papers and toll of the Goa weather means you better skip it and find another vehicle.

The Wagon (i guess 2 similar ones), The Hillman and a few more i forgot (Fiat 1100, Amby, Landmaster, A Maruti Gypsy) were offered to me by an agent a few months back owned by one person, all to be sold together for not to mention Ridiculous High Price, but later was informed someone had bought all of them. I think they were from Shirur. BTW the Gypsy was in SUPERB condition.

I just cant get the vehicle out of mind, I have been seeing it for the last 9 years ...stupid:. But even if it cant be restored I love a challenge. What sort of price bracket should it fall in?? :)

why not upload some pictures in a forum with more Land Rover enthusiasts. They'll know the value.
But considering no papers, and lack of originality AND condition. its value is in spares or scrap.
If you are interested in a LR series 2-3(not sure which it is) I've seen one in the garage between St.anthony's chapel and st.Alex church in calangute("calanguty":uncontrol). you could ask if its available.
