Kevin, yes i too did not understand the post better.

But, Mr Javed sure has few good cars in his collection, namely a 1 Mini Cooper, 1 Mini Clubman, 1 Beetle, 1946 Topolino, Fiat 600 etc., etc

Not only south. You can get a car under TR, but this will not work with labourers as in the past. Car must we working, seen as being genuinely used, must be registered in owners name atleast 1 year, must be RHD. For a contact you can send a PM, but you must have a relative or friend or so who will come under a TR.

Incidentally, this happens to be the same locality where we had lived when we were at Jodhpur in the 80s! One of the houses where we lived, our next door neighbours had a Black 2-door Morris Minor (maybe a low-light) which I never saw running.

this car was originally silver, belonged to my father's uncle, it was in the family till the early 2000s, and has changed several hands since.

I beg to differ and this is no where near any classic it's a base standard production spirit. Nothing to feature here at all. From

Yes Kasli but so are the W115s and so on. It just gets branded a Classic though not in the strict sense of definition, because of its rarity in the country. I would rate this as much as a classic as a 1970's Datsun 240Z or a later late 80's Nissan Fairlady. but then not all 80's cars are classics.

...Also it is very common to see titles like "Vintage" car for sale. i think such titles are more for attention grabbing to their ads and should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Dear Kasli,

There have been many discussions on what constitutes a vintage, classic or atleast a collectible car.
Now a novice would try to read up something, join a club to know what are the desirable models, talk to 'experts' (but don't always rely on them), or go to see a vintage car rally.

Now if you check the list of entries of the 2012 VCCCI rally, you get that strange feeling that some participating cars should not have been there, modernised cars with vintage car numbers. So you see, after attending that rally you are likely to be more confused. Luckily there were no Mercs W124's, but there was plenty of other stuff which also should have been removed. I am not mentioning which particular cars are involved to respect the owners, the organisers know exactly what should not have been there but were put to increase the numbers. There were also other methods used to make the list longer. The organisers failed in their responsibility.
BTW, a W124 as a coupe or convertible would surely have been eligible, IMHO.

why just those, some 124 saloons are pretty desirable, such as the 400E and the 500E, i would rather have those than any silver spirit/ silver spur. but i dont know of any that came to india.
