I am planning to buy this Mercedes Benz 350 SLC (1987) model. Need your advice on what should I look for in the car (to asses its condition)?

The car is in Bangkok (my current city). Price quoted is THB 400,000 (approx. INR 550,000). I still haven't met the owner to inspect the car, but will be doing so in the coming weekend.

Thanks a lot in advance...Cheers!!

re: Classic Cars available for purchase

A 1962 Fiat 1100 SS (should be one of the early ones) is advertised for sale on this link on our own teambhp website. The dash and interiors are not shown in the pictures.

There is yet another one (1961 Select and not SS as advertised) available on this link:
http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...r-Select.html/
The latter has the original meter and the dash is quite original. However the PAL badged horn button is new.The tail lights are from the SS and later era.
Both these cars have clean bodylines and look decent in pictures.

re: Classic Cars available for purchase

If any T-bhpian comes across a restored/restorable classic Chevrolet, please do let me know. This is to be used as a display car in our Chevrolet showroom.
I have been trying to get one at a reasonable price for a while now. I need this in Madurai though any registration is ok.

Hey good price for the Merc Man. Im sure you'd be able to bargain a lakh or so and that would really really be a steal.

re: Classic Cars available for purchase

Found this ad on banglore olx. Does anybody know of this car? He claims its a 1958 Superselect which is not correct. Also The price is 35k, does it mean the condition is really bad?

For Sale 1958 model Fiat super select - Bangalore - Cars

Hi, when the car is priced at 35K please assume that everything will need to be sorted out, and move forward with that premise. However you could really be in for a bargain if all fittings and fixtures are on the car but it probably only needs bodywork. But then that's wishful thinking
It should technically be a select if its 1958.

Shouldnt it in fact technically be an elegant if its a 1958? The select came in 1957 in ITALY of course, but I think there was a gap of atleast 2 years before it was launched in India?

I stand to be corrected.

I think they stopped selling the elegant here end of 1957 the select did come here end of 1957 early 58 the only way to find out is look at the original books of cars we know. I have personally never come across a elegant from 1958 onwards.

There was a Select shaped car from Fiat in India after the Elegant (centre light) was phased out, which was badged as the Millicento. The wheel rims for the black car came in light yellow colour (creamish yellow), not silver. This was sold for I believe, one year before the Select badged as the 1100 appeared.A LHD Italian one is featured here:

Jay Leno's Garage - Photos - Fiat Millecento - NBC.com
pictures from Jay Leno's garage
The front grille for India did not have this kind of brass badging as above. The front badge was simply Fiat on the bonnet. The rear had the Millicento badge in the space where 1100 appeared in later models. There may be few survivors of such models in India.
