VINTAGE 1964 STANDARD HERALD CONVERTIBLE,ORIGINAL - Hyderabad: Cars in Hyderabad at Quikr Hyderabad
Thanks suren! Incidentally, I know the Herald (), having seen it personally back in 2008- the first time when I met the owner he had quoted 1 lakh "seedha seedha", without letting me see the car.
Then when I went a second time to see the car, he sort of conveyed that he was expecting more than what he first quoted!
Now see how the price has escalated after the car was put up online! LOL!
And this car has been up for sale online at the current price since nearly a year now! Sometimes I wonder if these are cars or real estate, the way the prices escalate!

Come to think of it, it isnt bad even as a converted convertible, with the hood up! And its very much original in other aspects, exactly as it was when I first saw it. 'would've still picked it up but for the price!

Incidentally, this was first a Madras car with an MSS regn. (later converted to an ADY regn. when brought to hyd.) and the first owner seemed to be a popular erstwhile rally champion from the south, going by the name mentioned in the RC I saw (he still had the book type RC.)

I did want to use it as a daily driver, but I can appreciate the concerns my family have regarding long-term reliability and maintenance issues with a very old model as well as driving comfort.

Guys, guys, there seems to be some confusion.., albeit unintentional. And I can understand tarunhari's concern.

Hi abybabykcc,

You see, a Fiat or for that matter any car of nearly fifty years vintage, should not even be thought of as a daily use / daily drive car. These are cars which should be treasured / cherished, and lovingly maintained, even pampered if I may say so. These cars should be driven on the odd sunday morning, when one can enjoy their classic feel, and revel in the moments that take one back in time. Drive her to work once in a while, drive her to the occasional rally / classic drive, but NEVER as a daily drive.
I imagine you probably did not understand this while buying the car, and thought of it as a substitute for an 800 - which it certainly cannot be.
Do keep this in mind while buying your next car !

And a small aside - if things permit, do try to convince your family to keep her. Believe me, it'll be a decision you won't regret. Another five years, and 75% of all Fiats on Mumbai's roads will have gone.. and you will wish you had kept her.

BLN 5646 is a beautiful car, maintained with love by Rupesh, and subsequently by Tarun. Here's hoping she finds a good home, Amen to that.

I know of one LHD Diesel Jetta in pune. It is owned by a Team-bhp member. This car was bought from Delhi from a person who worked in the German Consulate if i remember correctly.
