Hi All
I am posting this add on behalf of my friend
This is a 1922 Sunbeam 636cc Motorcycle with Original side car including the door levers and the wooden frame (side car will require total restoration)
It works on a Total Loss system
The papers are clear
The bike is running and idling also (no engine work required), the carb is also original
Interested people may call up on 9819848228 for further details
Please note that i do not benefit in any way from the dealing of the bike and i am posting it here hoping that some of our fellow t-bhpian might be looking for some thing like this
Cheers
A local dealer informs that a single owner 1953Austin A30 for sale in Chenkottai.
He claims that the car has good originality and is in running condition
asking price is 3lakhs(negotiable).

With the levels of originality as low as this car , i cant imagine how the seller can dare to ask 1.2 lakhs for it. its worth less than half of that and pick it up if you think you can find the original bits.

Um, actually it is a very original car, atleast externally, with all the unique bits intact, needing only the original tail-lamps, headlamps nad front "egg-shaped" parking lights, and of course hubcaps. :)
But yes, I do agree the price is indeed steep! Hard to imagine how the prices have increased more than double for these cars in just 2-3 years.
Value of Elegants has definately gone up considering they were only produced for one year and internationally rare. I consider them to be the most desirable of the Fiats in India.(you can check my garage if you want to see whats missing on this car)
Having considered that I see the major expenses being reverting back to the original headlights and original rims and hubcaps, these are nearly impossible to find in India and very very difficult to source even in Europe. Also it appears that the Seats are not original. I estimate that you may have to spend another Lakh to get the car back to originality. Do also check if the engine is original if you decide to buy the car.

Amol, the rims could be original for all we know. Your car has the early (millecento) style rims being an early elegant. The '57-58 ones came with these rims that continued on subsequent 1100s too. So hte hubcaps would be the select/superselect ones and relatively easier to find here.

Yeah could be Shyam, could never tell the difference between the later Fiat rims, if your right then he probably saves about 10k:) But i dont think in anycase running Elegants below 60K are a reality today. Heck unrestored LD's cost upwards of 100K and there are definately more of them then Elegants:)

The wheel rims of the car above
are original and this continued for the centre light 1100 Elegant. The silver paint work needs to be replaced with the body colour for originality.Though later some 1100 Millicentos had yellowish cream painted wheel rims.

This one has body colour rims though but these rims are not OE and are from the later 1100's and SS/1100D/President/Padmini era like the ones on the car for sale.
By 1959-60 the new wheel rim design was in vogue in Millicentos.

I have asked the person to send me some pics of interiors & engine bay. Frankly I'm not very serious about this one. I picked this ad (out of various classic car ads) because I think that this car is quite ORIGINAL.

Here is an all-original '57 elegant with the later type rims. At first I too thought they were later rims/hubcaps but Karl had confirmed that it came with these as OE:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/iipcache/89356.jpg
Also note they were painted in CREAM (so were those of the '54-55 millecento as in your pic.) and not silver (moonstone), which came on the 1100 select onwards.
So was there a change in design between 56 and 57 because i have this following picture from a year 2000 autocar of shiamak davars 56 centerlight, assuming his car is more or less original(atleast the rims are) thats the reason why i thought the ones on the white car arent original.

Incase you are not interested in those FIAT's, i will be interested, but on a budget of 50 K max. rest depends on level of originality / papers etc . Will wait for Karl Guru to confirm the level of originality and the best prices , the car is worth it.
picking up shouldn,t be a issue as i live in delhi .
