What colour have you decided on?
I am going to paint her in her original colour, which was peacock blue (mettalic) I found the colour below the pattis and dashboard when i scrapped the car yesterday. Can some one help me with the correct name of the shade and which company may make the correct shade.

Somehow I'm skeptical about it being the original colour. Ive never heard of fiats- especially dukkars coming new in metallic shades. Infact European cars (with the exception of maybe merc. etc.) are not known to have come in metallic paint until around the 70s.

I think Karl can elaborate on this more and probably post pics of a car in this combo in pune( I think there are several), but I have confirmed this with a some very old fiat hands in Mumbai (one of them claims to have restored and sold atleast about 50 elegants), and yes he has confirmed that there was only one mettalic shade in the elegant model and that was kind of a peacock blue.

Mercedes had metallic colours from the mid fifties, helblau met, met green and metallic strawberry red. Of course the colours were very flat and very different from todays mettalics, my ponton has a original 50's mettalic shade DB 353.

Luckily i have managed to lay my hands on some 50's car shade cards for India, i may be able to locate some info there.

I'd read it long ago. That is exactly the article which gave me the idea. But as it is apparent, it could be made much more readable for a layman. And also, info about the Padmini and its variants is missing.

That colour was indeed offered originally, I have verified it on a couple of other long term owned cars, with many portions of original paint.

Firstly its MRX, and secondly the spyders were very much offered with 1200 engines. I dont know about this one but the other one at the rally was a 1200.

I know Spyders were offered with a 1221 but do we ever refer to a spyder as a 1200??

Hey thats an impressive linup and turn up for the event too. i see the numbers have swelled since the begining.
Nice to see Harit uncle and his lovely car, Fang and Immy Sheikh.
The wheels of the red spyder are really nice.

@ Immy the car looks lovely in person, but do tell me do you still have your bikes or you sold them. Last one i remember you having was the black Honda CB400.

Here is another pic of the Pune car, but I feel the colour needs to be a few shades darker as in the pic above the Pune car .

Somehow the non metallic blue does not work as well.

Whoops! Outdone by the fiat guru again! Hehe!

Wow, it feels great to know that fiat did offer metallic shades on their cars earlier! Yes this shade looks great on the elegant!
