Re: Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

The FCCCI drive to Mr. Anil Jain's school was an unforgettable day today.
All FCCCI members met at different locations on Eastern Expressway & by Thane we were all in line. I along with my better half joined the drive at Vikhroli & couldn't help myself following Amol's & sometimes Roni's Fiats. Once we arrived at Bhiwandi, we were met by Mr. Anil Jain at the main road & were given a special welcome drink & small photo-shoot followed. The locals & even traffic police were amused seeing so many Fiats together. Post welcome drinks, our special bumper to bumper convoy followed Mr. Anil Jain's well made JEEP towards the school.
SHREE NAKODA KARNA BADHIR VIDHYALAYA is a school for children with listening disabilities located at Bhiwandi & is run by the trust established by family of Mr. Anil Jain, an ardent FIAT lover with a beautiful 1959 Fiat among other beautiful metal beauties.
The members were welcomed at gate with a rose by the eversmiling school children, who also seemed amused by the line of cars. What followed next was a day to remember for the rest of our lives.
The FCCCI meet at the school was day mixed with different kind of emotions. Where there were beautiful ladies to ogle at, there were these kids with smiles that lit up the entire universe.
A collection of scale models (some worth stealing ), a guided tour of the school, interaction with the students, a cultural program by students & an awesome lunch cooked in the kitchen of school were the highlights of the day. I'll let the pics tell you the story as it unfolded:

Speaking of which there was a bit of a incident on the way back. I was trailing Bhavesh and Nishikant on the NH3 when suddenly his bonnet flew open and bent out of shape. It was seriously very scary and lucky for him that there were very few cars trailing them. Somehow they managed to pull it shut and moved along.

I hope they reached safely.

Re: Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

The Biggest factory was in KURLA near vidyavihar station.
Most of that area has been taken to construct Buildings since its a Prime property.

For Dyes, Mr Dhabar should be the best person to answer.

Padmini will never come back in production, it will be sorely missed ones the Padmini cabs go out of service, which will happen soon.

Padmini along with Ashok leyland double deckers is a part of Mumbai landscape and i am priviledged to have expereinced these.
The Sight of those lovely headlight scoops from the front seat is a sight to behold.

I still wish Maharashtra Tourism in future should retain few of the best Padmini taxis purely for its heritage value as and when the last of Padmini's go off the road.

It is a eyesore to see Santro's, OMNI's, Alto's , M800's , Indica's , Esteem's converted to Mumbai cabs and steadily replacing Padminis. ( No offence to the above mentioned cars )

Re: Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

Re introducing FIAT padmini will be a definite hit before it lands the showroom with the nostalgic feelings people have in their heart, i guess every other house would have one car, however if this happens in India then I guess it has to go through lot of revamp engine at least first because of the Euro norms however the rest can be let the way it is, the car is good to go for another decade the way it was and again all this to happen is next to impossible

On the 18th of December 2011, Pune's Fiat club organised a drive wherein some pristine examples of the legend in it various forms could be seen.
