I do recall that a few 80s padminis were fitted with such a panel. But again, very few. Here is one that can be seen in this song, also the panel has round holes as well as the "flow-chart box" shaped ones that the S1/137D came with:

Incidentally, in the colony where we previously lived, there used to be a black padmini with modded tail-lamps also with a Delhi regn. (DDB something I think) that had a perforated panel, with only round holes like on this car.

While I cannot see the video right now, I have seen many such conversions on aftermarket AC cars. My 78 Padmini has it, as does the blue car mentioned by Silverado a few posts earlier.

Here is a battered Super Select I saw the other day. Was probably headed to the scrappers close by.

Sad! 'hope it didnt! In any case, if you know the location, is it possible for you to get off the original rims? There's someone in Pune who needs them.

Spot on Karl! You guessed right. Today she is already resting in peace at the mercy of the scrappers.

And yes! She does have a lot of things that could be salvaged besides the "below average" body shell, if anyone wants to work on a classic restoration project.

Re: Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

I still feel this car can be restored, a good project for someone really interested, scrappers will not wait for a long time because of their capital getting stuck, if someone hurries then I am sure this beauty can be saved and will be a nice looking car once done.

Re: Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

Yes that is CST road scrapyard near BKC, mostly the scrappers there sell these old fiats off. That's a rare one to get parted out there. They themselves know the value of these cars.

Righto fx45 !! I'd once inquired about prices for some Padminis, and a Select at CST road. While he quoted 30K for the Padminis, he asked for 50 for the Select !!
When I tried to haggle saying "I am a poor man looking out for cheap transport", the dealer retorted: "Sir, you are a rich man. Only rich people come here asking for these old-shaped Fiats"

Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

I was there on Sunday. The Super Select is already sold.
Hoping that it has gone to caring hands.

Re: Fiat Classic Car Club - Mumbai

A FIAT "Safari", this is not a Premier Safari built by SAB.
No idea about this picture, would have thought that this is abroad except for the fact that the car is RHD, so there are some chances that this is in India. Mumbai had about 3 of these.

Cheers harit

Super! Definitely not abroad, the car is a Premier President station wagon, locally built either by SAB or some other local manufacturer. This appears to be a publicity shot. Looking forward to more
