Thanks for the info, and that raises a few questions as I am in uncharted but interesting territory.
1. To confirm if the block is indeed available and if so what is it.
2. Check my block to determine what type it is.
3. If the new block is a S1, and my old block is not, can I use my old head?i
4. When was the S1 first offered? Would it be better to find a used S1 engine and have it rebuilt and installed?
5. If we do decide to fit an AC the extra 10 Horsepower would be a distinct advantage as we want to be able to use the car as a daily driver and hope to make some long distance trips.

I really appreciate all the good advice from the Team BHP members on this.

I am a little of a purist and on one hand want to keep the it as original as possible but on the other hand need a solid, dependable comfortable car. We were considering entering it the Statesman Rally with a trophy in mind but this year they have changed the rules that excludes our model.

Thanks again,
John

Dear all - I am bringing BLL4919 from Nasik today for tomorrow's meet. By the way, Nasik threw up one more surprise yesterday. I purchased brand new metal body tail lights but had to pay a bomb for them.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Guess will miss that have my exams going on. More so, 4919 and Roni's elegant acquisition, if he's getting it.

New metal body tail lights are available from Sweet Trade for Rs560 a pair. They need to be specially ordered from the company. It is the same for numberplate lights too.

I got them ! I got them !!! You won't believe it, I called up Sweeet Trade, chatted with the owner Mr. Ansari. (incidentally he owns a '61 select), and got to know a hole in the wall at opera house, which had one pair. I also got metal body front parking lights !
I've been unwell for the last few days guys... I'm in for tomorrow if I'm feeling better.
