Tata Steel is organising a vintage car rally on 27 Feb 2022 (Sunday). The rally will be flagged off at 7:30 am from Gopal Maidan, Bistupur and after covering few kilometres through Jublee park and Straight Mile road, will end at United club.
Cars and two wheelers manufactured before 1975 are allowed to participate.
Any TBHPian in this part of the world may come and see.

If get myself to leave the bed early (the weather right now can make anyone lazy) I'll go to see and will try to post some images.

Is the Vintage Car rally an annual affair at Jamshedpur or this is a one off event? Jamshedpur has good collection of nice cars, have never visited, but heard of. May the tribe grow.

I have been in Jamshedpur for last 6 years. Many events are organised between December to March like dog show, flower shows, tribal mela, kavi sammelan, etc. But it's the first time I came to hear about vintage car rally.

3rd March being birthday of J N Tata, the whole city is in celebratory mood with lightings and beautification etc.

Great news for vintage enthusiasts! If 1975/1980 is the cut-off year, quite many last moment entries could also be expected apart from the confirmed ones as in the press report. Its a good gesture by Tata Steel and hopefully they will continue with such rallies on an annual basis. Its a great way to commemorate the memories of Mr J.R.D. Tata on his birthday.

A 1937 Dodge D 6 Sedan had been driven to Kolkata in 2018 to participate in The Statesman V & C Rally of 28.01.2018. I had then spoken to Mr Ajay Agrawal who had driven Mr Abhishek Jaiswal's car. This car won the Indian Oil Trophy for the car that had covered the longest distance to participate in the Rally. Besides, there are quite a few enthusiasts who travel from Patna and other parts of Bihar and Jharkhand to Kolkata for The Statesman V & C Rallies as viewers. I had also met the son of a HM dealer from Patna just a few years back at Kolkata.

"Tata Steel Limited : Witness the first edition of Tata Steel Vintage and Classic Car and Bike Rally, along with your friends and family, on February 27, 2022. The rally will be flagged off at Gopal Maidan at 7:30 am and end at United Club at 9:30 am."

Many thanks for these images. I couldn't click good pics from my mobile camera due to large gathering in front of the cars. However, it was a nice morning to get out see some real classic cars.
So I am attaching only two pics here. Please excuse the quality of pics.

1. A very very vintage car (I presume it's a Fiat) trying to make it to the exhibition centre, albeit late.

That's a Morris 8 E Series (1938-48) moving. It is fitted with tail lights as aftermarket additions. The stepney has been placed at a new location outside the boot cover. It has been dislocated from within the luggage boot. The rear windscreen shape cannot be mistaken for another !

Damn! Those are some really beautiful rides in my hometown

Sad that I couldn't be in town to witness it in person.

PS: It's founder's day later this week on 3rd March and this is a nice way to get the celebration started.
