Glad to see progress on the car. To be perfectly honest, Im not happy with what I see. As Gogi and the others pointed out, this is a half hearted attempt at giving the car a superficial restoration. The bodyline seems pretty clean to begin with, so I suppose it should come out ok. Some more pics would certainly be welcome. Cant wait to see her in your hands, count me in for the drive back to bombay!

HeinkelTourist

Over the weekend, I came across this 1956 HeinkelTourist MK II, though the owner claims to be a 1937 model and only such scooter exists in India. Apparently Vijay Mallya has offered 12 lakhs for this beaty.

All original parts, with Silver piston rings and 400cc engine, with self start and aluminium body. Even the tyres are original and Continental make. I googled for more info on this and found this to be a 175 CC scooter.

Owner will never sell this scooter, though he is a road side mechanic and a vingtage car/scrap dealer and has a sound knowledge about the classics and their availability.

Here are some pic, enjoy maadi

The original pic from google looks like this,

nice pictures shreeram, this looks like some garage and the cars are going to be restored.
there is a similar citreon like this one with a backery owner in bombay. the car though sports nothing original and if my memory does not fail me was converted to diesel.
what is the convertible behind the austin and the citreon? look like it is a donor car and been chopped extensively.

Karl, You and Gogi are Right! I too have my reservations, But , I have a problem with time. Too occupied with too many things to do and all alone, so took a risk and requested the owner to do it up. The owner assure me that he is doing a perfect job, lets see, maybe i'll redo the car after a years or two, atleast till then she looks and drives well. It seems the engine is perfect and has been tuned, and the suspension and brakes redone wherever required[to Goa standards] at least driveable back to Mumbai. This man/owner who you also know/heard of is into restoring as a business now, so if he does a fair job and takes a little extra as profit, I dont mind in view of what i've said earlier. Lets see, maye i'll learn out of wrong faith in new people!!
