The Bombay pictures seem to be taken at the April rally you guys had in 2009/2010.

IIRC the last picture of the Singer car (green one) is the same picked up by our very own Vintageman (Capt. Chauhan) last year. Do correct me if i am wrong.

traveloholic your pictures do not show the Savoy clearly, as its eclipsed by another car. Would only request you to sometime click this car nicely.
Got my hands on a few pics of the car prior to restoration. She was restored within 3 months by Raju Auto (WIAA). I did get a chance to drive her a few weeks ago and she runs quite well for her age and not forgetting that she hasn't had an engine overhaul.

@Yash: Nice pics of the restoration process.
I am liking the detailed rust treatment that the Ford V8 chassis is being given.
Should stay rust protected forever, now, especially if stored in Pune.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

So there we were, wandering around Cargo motors Jalandhar, waiting for my nephew's car to be brought back from a test drive when he says he wants to show me something, so we walk through the washing area and the storage area and standing there, tucked away in a distant corner are under a shed are these three beauties, a yellow Convertible Chrysler, a green Buick, and a little Singer. Very nicely kept too. An old mechanic informed that these belong to the owners of Cargo Motors Ltd. I'm not very well informed about the history of these automobiles, but I'm sure the buffs out there will enlighten us.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Lovely cars, news for me.
Singers in this form of a sedan are not common in India, we have more of these as Roadsters.
The 1938 Buick seems to be a royal car, not only because of " Ramnagar Raj" mentioned on the plate, it seems to be a 7-seater with tinted glasses at the rear, these tinted glasses could be original and then this was a 'Purdah" car. BTW, the bonnet appears not to closed properly, and the monogram on the grill is inverted. A very common mistake.
Could you try to get a nice frontal picture of the Chrysler? What body style does it have?

Cheers harit

Looking at the pictures and Indrojit's comments, I wonder what is going on here. In the last set of pictures there is a Chevy in black, that car is white today, and can be seen at THE SAME PLACE in Mumbai, on Forjett Street. And the MG under restoration, painted red is in front of Solanki's garage, he restored that Mumbai MG a couple of years ago. It is the BMW registered car which entered a rally some time ago.

Also note, when Wasif said that the Lancia was being restored in Bombay and that the Ford T was from a Pune collection, Indrojit "was aware of these facts". What are "these" facts? Karl has already corrected them. Being superficial never helps facts.

There is a broker who used to roam around with pictures of other peoples cars and offer them for sale. When confronted that a particular car belonged to a particular person, he would change his tone and mention that he had a "similar" car for sale. One has to be really careful because even I had this experience of my cars being offered for sale. There are fraudsters everywhere, one has to be very careful.

Cheers harit
