Pandit & Co. are one of the oldest people into restoration in Delhi. There is no doubt about their workmanship at all. But at the end the car that comes out is of a different breed all together.

Yes it is still owned by the school. I am told an ex-student has paid for 60% of the restoration of this car. Apart from this i had pointed out these 2 facts but then this is what they wanted. The colour is actually their unifrom colour. The Head lights have also been changed.

Being an ex-student myself I'm glad to see the old "Junko" as all Doscos fondly called it, being retained by the school. Though I never did have the good fortune of actually being in the Motor Mechanics squad (those guys sometimes got to drive the car) I did get a couple of rides in it around school as I used to hassle and hang around and try to help out the motor mech guys. And when I was in the car or even see it go for its usual rounds around school I would get thrilled and my face would light up with joy, something that still happens to me with the same childish enthusiasm everytime I see a nice old car being taken for a spin. Thanks for the pics Sparky.

1930 Desoto 6 -

This is a 1956 Dodge kingsway. The car looks very intact and original. Some more pics of the sides and rear ?

If I am right the Bean was owned by a planter in Ooty (his brother was my uncle) who gave it to someone for a pittance in a moment of weakness. the only person i know who might have done a lot of restoration on this is a his nephew who lives in Australia

That is a 55 Kingsway, with the smaller fins. 56 onwards the fins got a little larger and there was a slight facelift upfront.

agree: because there is another original 1957dodge Kingsway in Kerala for sale with its original engine and very nice condition.
sale not taking place because the owner is quoting a very high half a million INR for that

But Ajay a seller is quoting the same amount for a 1966 Impala too.Indrojit knows about it.
All like to make fast money- there are no rules as they say for old car prices and its the seller and buyer who decide.

Hi Karl,

Thankx for correcting me. The 1956 Model had the badge placed in the same place but lower. This is one thing that can help us to identify this car from the front.

:) Yes i remember that car well.

If the above reffered Dodge is original and is a good state then it maybe a fair price but only the pics can tell.
