Morris 8 E series

Hi Mr. IndrojitSircar,

Thanks for sharing nice pictures of Morris 8 E, seems to be in original condition, except front tyres. I had similar Morris 8, getting tyres is the problem. Is any spare parts available for this model in Calcutta? any information about it would be appreciated.

WBE is from the early to mid 1960's (many WBE registrations a below WBE 5000 are Ambassadors Mark I (prior to 1964). And WBF 's were invariable Mark II's in the prime till 1968 or 69. Undoubtedly WBF followed WBE.Many Ambys with the newer colour schemes of 1968 like Oxford blue, yellowish buff, pista (light) green and moss(very dark) green bore the WBF registrations. In fact after the dated colours since the 1964 Ambys (the Mark II had a different set of colours as compared to the Mark I) came with a bang in 1968, with all the above new colours. The very popular cream and black colours continued. There were no factory painted white Ambassadors then. The shell white came in for the first time in 1978 (Mark 3) and then the officialdom developed a great liking and affinity soon for the shell white. And WBG followed WBF.Here is a cream WBG Mark II example, perhaps in its original paint.

Would have to check out if these had been brought in from other states and re-registered in W.B.In the early 1960's it was WBA and WBB.We had a Willys Jeep CJ3B (LHD) of 1963 which bore the WBB series number.

Well mosty people will disagree with me about this but i spoke to 2 or 3 people about this from the vintage car circle in calcutta but when i posted this earlier no one agreed with me.

The point is the old numbers from scrapped cars they were given again. That is the only possibility.

For whatever it is worth, special numbers like WBx 1 could be assigned out of turn.

That is a possibility Indrojit in WB.In the mid 1980's I had found WBZ an exclusive two wheeler series, that was over by 1980 (reached 9999) or so, being assigned to some new imported bikes.

This is the only possibilty to answer the questions regarding the various series but have no written evidence as proof so as result many people are dis-believeing this fact.

These would be appropriate for these threads.
