Sorry no pics!! |
You missed the Jag Sovereign. These are all cars that come for service there or are parked by the owners. Its at the Kundanmal Pump at Peddar Road. There is also a Willy's Jeep, a black Chrysler from the 60's and a Ford A (i think) and a Citroen and a LHD Rolls with US plates. These i believe these belong to the Pump owner. Even the Viper used to be parked here till it got sold to the Gondals.

The above red MINI is located at Thane. Owner stays in the building opposite to where my friend stays.
Last I'd seen, it had a new paintjob (same colour combo), but lacked the front grille and head lamps.
Will try to get pics when I go back there. |
When was the last time you saw the car. The last time i saw the car, it didnt even have the side glasses and the engine was not ready..
Spotted this Austin in Kolkata!

That is an Austin Cambridge 10/4. Apparently it belongs to fellow Bhpian SP_Kolkata.
I had spotted it at the Kolkata Auto Expo this year, parked among Gautam Mukherjee's cars. See this thread.

Well finished car by the looks of it but its debateable whether it actually was the father of the nations car. Never heard of him owning an automobile at all.
What about the cars he used go around in which have been shown in the movie gandhi ?I knwo they might not be the same cars but well he did go around in some car or the other who's were those ?
They were lent to him by a number of well wishers. not sure if he actually owned any cars at any point.
Ok but sorry i'm acting a bit dumb but i didn't know about this.Who were the well wishers though?
Oh c'mon. I was not around in those days to say with any authority but the Birla's were one family that had a good connection with him as were the Shrirams
;) well as i said i'm being dumb with this but quite curious to know about it.I thought since you brought up this topic you might know something about it as well.
A Vintage Car on open roads being paraded for political drives. This is an Austin from Thane.

Sorry about the late reply.
Well the last time I'd been there was over a month before I posted it here.

Ironical, We were feudal when the car was new, we are still feudal today 70 yrs or so on. Only the kings have changed. Dance of Democracy indeed.
I missed this one in yesterdays paper though thanks for putting it up.

This is the second time the Austin is being used for a political rally. First time it was taken was for the same politician 4 or 5 years back. The politician is related to the owner of the Austin..
