The above event already has a dedicated thread to it, including some lovely pics of the classics.

Visited the site.

I quite liked the Mercury, bonnet large enough to use as a picnic table:)

But I have doubts about the red Holden Kingswood convertible, never saw any in India. Is it original?

I think it is CH XXXX regd, probably chop top. Advertised for sale in recent Autocar.

This Austin used to be seen often at old time workshops in Pune. I later learnt it belonged to a family friend, I saw it painted there. He sold it, and now it lies at my mechanics place.

Also used to see this similar car some years back. Not seen now.

Hi Karl, Can we have pics of the Standard 2000 in the background too? Seems to be in pretty good condition.

These pictures were taken many years back, when I didn't think it necessary to take photos of a Standard 2000 unfortunately. Alas, that car too is not seen any more.

My grandmother and aunt had visited Aurangabad many years back, and taken these pictures for me. They remember nothing of the location, and even though I work in Aurangabad I cannot trace them. Wonder if they are still around. One is a Vauxhall, the tourer is a 27/28 Chevy. No idea which bike that is. Both cars were in running condition when photos taken.

I see a early 60's lambretta as well in the last snap, with a possible MHP no plate.Sorry and there's something behind the Vauxhall.

Quite an uncommon car amongst others we see of the period, what say? I think this car was being restored at Davis' at Nagar road. A friend had sent me a picture of another car there, and something of this size and colour was visible in the back. Always wondered what it was.

What an absolutely lovely 1938 Chevrolet. I think there were "standard" and "master" models, this being a Master. So fortunate to have dedicated car nuts half a world away. With our president's "cash for clunkers", I fear we may lose the passion for collecting and restoring cars of interest.:)

Surely that shouldn't be the case with cars that are recognised as vintages/classics over there, especially not with so many classic car clubs backing them up?!

I think you mean 1928 Chevy. There are a surprisingly fair number of these still around, though not as many as contemporary Model A Fords.

With the Cash for Clunkers scheme Im afraid that the yank tanks of the 70s and 80s should be pretty hard hit - I wonder what will happen to the cars they take back. They certainly will destroy them, but will parts be made available from them?

I think noonrock is referring to the car in post # 486 of this thread (the one parked in the GM Showroom in Pune), which is indeed a 1938 Chevrolet Master.

You mean we should be wary of cars made by your company on Tuesdays too?:)

Well I'm having the blues on a Tuesday also, but that's because I'm not in Poona today, which I was yesterday! So on Monday in fact, I was tickety-boo!!

While doing some reserch on the net I came accross this article on ET online does anyone know of this gentleman and his collection.

Jehangir Car Gallery maintains a collection of vintage cars- Backpage-The Sunday ET-Features-The Economic Times

This orange ugly duckling made an appearance a rally in Pune some years back. Another blue car gives it company sometimes.
