Yes its a late '40s/early 50s renault 4CV:

renault 4CV - Google Image Search

Incidentally I remember reading somewhere that the Renault Dauphine was supposed to be assembled in India by some company back in the 60s...but the plan never materialised!

And I see some more classics in the background! What kind of place is this??

Btw, 'still awaiting news on that Pennant??!

I want to cry and strangle the guy who has let this beauty go uncared for.

A 1959 Chevrolet Belair.

It should look like this

Where oh where have the beautiful Cat's Eyes gone

The idea of the quiz was a squib and a bore so putting the photograph where it deserved to be in the "graveyard" thread -

A 1932 Hillman Straight 8

It was abandoned when the previous owner decided to shift to UK when we became an independent country - believe it or not the car is registered as "lawaris" and awaits the day it can be sold as scrap by the Government.

This can only happen in Lucknow !!!

Which rim are you referring to as the maruti one?? Both look original only...

Anyways, gogi- a real pity! She's obviously too gone to restore! 'can try for the parts though.

Oh, and I recall you'd wanted some parts off the Austin Cambridge that was broken here, fo your friend who owns another one.

Do refresh me on what all he would need & I'll let you know if I have them. I do have major things like dash, all glasses (inc. with 4 doors!), rims, front grille, trims etc.!

Unfortunately this was the one. When the car was in Bangalore it was offered to me as "running condition", "LHD" etc etc(it turned out to be the opposite) and then it was sold to Bombay. I was shown some bad quality night time pictures of it half covered with one light intact. When I asked for the pics in daylight he was dilly dallying till he told me it was sold to a person in Bombay for peanuts. I pursued and pursued till i found where this car was kept and sold. When I saw it today, I was aghast and shocked at the condition the A-B-C pillars have rusted and disintegrated.

WHich is the Maruti rim? They are all original with tyres of varied sizes.

One can with minimal effort and maybe two persons, easily, just lift the top off. For the price it was offered back then, it was a great buy but the condition explained to me was completely different. I think this guy got conned into buying this car in the same way they tried to gyp me but Ive learnt the hard way, never to believe i anything you cant see yourself first. If I get this free, or maybe for max 40K i will restore it to its glory but that is another story and wishful thinking. It requires very dedicated and knowledgeable people to work on it. Sadly i think its the end of this car. Amen and RIP!!

Yes I will ask my friend and tell you as to what he needs from the Austin. Thanks.
