Couple of messed up projects from Rajasthan, most of the parts have been sold or lost.

I recently watched an old Malayalam movie (Ambalavilakku - 1980) on YouTube.

The movie revolves around a tourist taxi driver in Trivandrum who sacrifices everything for his family. I was happy to see this Bedford Dormobile Utilabus in one of the shots. They never mentioned the name of the medical college - could be either Trivandrum or Alleppey Medical College. ajay99?

I think I have seen the Bedfords with UNICEF / WHO signs.
The porch does look like the TVM Medical college, however do not remember the building you see through it.
Could it be the Dental College ?

That indeed is the porch of Trivandrum Medical College (not the hospital)
Dental college is situated opposite the Medical college hospital near the main road which goes to Ulloor.
The building you see through the porch is not a separate one but the northeastern arm of the' H ' shaped medical college building.

Looks like 53-54ish Austin A40 Somerset with a chopped roof.

It certainly looks like an A40, but the photos show a disintegrating convertible with what looks like 4 doors. From the records I couldn't find any A40 4-door convertibles, only 2-door coupe convertibles. So Leoshashi, there is a distinct possibility of chopping & splicing & the "hideous mix & match" which you hinted at!

Yes, that's clearly (to the trained eye) by no means a convertible but an A-40 saloon with the roof chopped off because someone had the fancy of a self-styled vintage convertible! Apparently they regretted their decision later, going by the state of the car!

Touche^, Stanher! "To the trained eye" is indeed the mot juste here. I wish the owner had tempered his aspirations - for a convertible - with his (or his garage tech's) ability to do a decent job!

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

So this friend of mine who knows nothing about vintage and classic cars, he is only aware that I am passionate about them, sends me these pics of a Chrysler product which was languishing in Gwalior. But he did take the trouble to obtain and send pics of the car as she was discovered, before the clean-up / restoration.

Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars-chrysler-gwalior-03t.jpg

Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars-chrysler-gwalior-04t.jpg

And here is the only pic of the car as she is today which he sent to me. No idea if the car was made roadworthy or is just a display piece. He would ask the next time he goes there.

What could it be? Chrysler, Plymouth?

Cheers harit
