Been seeing this Fiat 1100D sitting at this spot at this old house in our colony for ages. Nobody lives at this place and even the house bore a dilapidated look until twas whitewashed recently. Ironically there's a garage right behind the car but is always locked up. Maybe another car inside, and hence this one got the step-car treatment? Numberplate conveniently blank for team bhp posting!
Though I remember it had a Delhi plate.

This Chevy has been in the same garage, at the entrance of Mysore for ages. As far as I can remember, this has been in the same condition with the mechanic insisting that the car is complete and only needs to be assembled.

Its a 1969 Pontiac GTO sports coupe, 5.7L Petrol engine, 330HP..
I am seriously interested in restoring it and make it a hardtop again. Is the car still there?

That Oldsmobile makes you cry! Such beauty, but now helplessly rotting because of the owner. But what could be the reason that people refuse to sell such vehicles? Is it because of the lack of papers or some court case going on?

Well I knew there was something familiar of the car !

And here is a snap when I took a really long time ago on a business trip . Around 1997 or 1998 . It was at a garage right at the beginning of Mysore city on the main highway with a huge Arch

This thread is spellbinding & riveting ! There is nothing that brings on nostalgia and regret as keenly (I'm 63) as seeing old cars gradually falling to pieces amidst overgrown shrubbery. Most of these veterans were familiar to our generation of gearheads during our boyhood - Allahabad and Lucknow in my case.
I've been living in mumbai since '82, and during subsequent visits would often see many of the old veterans rusting away quietly in lanes and cul-de-sacs in both cities.
But in recent visits (post 2011) I have noticed that most of the rust-buckets have disappeared from their earlier posts. Enquiries elicited vague responses - they have been towed away by various people etc.

Apart from the usual collection of American examples (Studebaker, Desoto, Plymouth, Packard, Hudson etc) there were the odd exotica too. We would often see a dilapidated fabric-top Hispano-Suiza H6B hooting around the Chowk roundabout in Lucknow in the mid-to-late sixties. It was said to belong to one of the erstwhile nobles now come upon hard times. It too was one of the examples which we later saw having been put out to grass. And was also one of the earliest to have been "towed away" later.
