Wow a 1940's Studebaker Truck. This is very rare in India, I am sure. I have never come across such a truck before. I showed the pictures to my Dad and he identified it at the first instance.

This project will throw up so many options. You could restore or rod it. Which ever way you go, you have a winner in your hands. Congrats vintageman

Here are pictures from the net

Nice Stude, these were very common in India, probably even assembled. One of their biggest customers were the forces, and then these were auctioned off and used by civilians too. Bur eventually they have all been scrapped. Pune had a huge scrapyard for these, Nashik too.

It is a 118 NE for sure. Just the front bumper is broken or missing. But I wonder why they wont auction them and probably they all end up with good hands which pamper them and give a new life.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Not sure if these cars have been posted before, or even if they qualify to be in this thread, but here goes -

Parked at a petrol pump near my office, in Andheri -

Parked in the Building opposite Britannica Cafe. Looks like an Ambulance. I'm quite interested to know more about this.

I guess that rusty truck is a Morris J(?) or an early Bedford? Definitely one of the two.

Also seeing a Standard 20 van pic. after a long time- these were a common sight in Madras until recently! Is that another one in white beside the yellow one?

The rusty truck is a Bedford or is it a Chevrolet as its also a LHD ? Bedford was a GM owned company in the U.K.and these trucks were badged as Chevrolets too!

Attachment 986660

There is also a Bedford CA 1595 cc van in white - fourth picture from top. These were common in the earlier days, as many had come under the UNICEF programmes and were used by the state health departments.

Attachment 986661

And the one to the right of the yellow Standard 20 is a Mahindra FC series - may be an ambulance

Its a Customs building at Ballard Pier and this Camper (not an ambulance) has been parked here since ages with Dogs and occasionally a few druggies housed in it. Sadly the sliding door has gone missing since the past year or more. I have been seeing this parked here from the days it was pristine. Dont know whether the duty was balance por ifo this was used in some smuggling case etc. Very odd for a car to be parked here. This is the only one ive seen parked here in so many years.

It appears to be the remains of an early Fiat [ I could be wrong, but the wheels look very much like Fiat ones] Would like to know where exactly it is lying...It could be saved.

Hi Collector,

I am not sure about the wheels but the car could be a Ford V8 from the 1930's going by the dash and so on. Best left to the experts to comment. I was told it was lying somewhere near Banaswadi in a field by the person who took the picture. He already tried enquiring and was told that it was not for sale, but you never know. Would be lovely if someone could save her.

regards,

Srinand.
