This one looks like an American muscle car. I have seen it on TV but I can't remember its name.

Ofcourse it is 100% Restorable... Please search this forum for Restoration Threads, and you will come to know how worst condition cars (Camero is 100% better) have been brought back to life.. Better than what they came out of the factory several years ago... Cheers...

So manish, are you working in Madras now (sorry can't being myself to call it Chennai!) Or just a trip? This car sadly looks a bit too buggered up. But still restorable I guess. You'd have to trace the owner yet I guess?

Yes tis a late 50s Standard Vanguard phase 3. The last of the Vanguards available in India (twas replaced later by the Michelotti-designed Vanguard Vignale and finally the Vanguard 6, which didnt make it to India, probably due to the 'Big brother' attitude of HM who used their clout over the Indian govt. to have Standard Motors stop making this car as it was seen as a direct threat to the 'dear' old Amby!)

No no, my dealer is in Chennai. This time, I made sure I met Srivardhan. Unfortunately I cannot contact owner, this was near pondichery.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Here is a Landrover which has been in my cousin's family since last
40 years, my uncle bought it for Rs. 5000/- , was a runner till 1989.

I am not sure but I believe it is the series 1, from 1948.

Sadly it has been lying under a tree for many years, my cousins
refuse to sell, and dont restore either, a couple of years back
they were planning to deiselise it and I told them that would
rob it of all its worth., thankfully they listened.

The solace is that the body cannot Rust since it has an aluminium body.

cheers
Kartik

God, what an awful way to keep a Land Rover!
Even these are hard to get these days. 'hope better sense prevails and the poor thing gets to see better days!

Many Land Rover Clubs around so parts are available. If the fit a diesel engine then its worth less than a mahindra.

That is a real shame - I clearly remember seeing the car in a garage/plot in Kothrud, there were many (3-4) split window VW vans being prepared for export. Do you have any pictures of those by chance?

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

The Studbaker is In Pune since ages.. In kothrud itself.. Not Exactly sent here by owner but its his fault not to rescue it.. I have been behind him to sell for as many as 5 years now, and finally when he gave in yesterday, i went to see the car and i saw the car today in this state.. Mind you the owner has not seen the car and does not know the condition as on today...

Yes I do have the Pic of the VW Van. I have seen only one.. Who Told you they were gonna be exported ?

Cos this one survives to this date...
