Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Does someone know this car? Its parked at a fuel pump in Chakala-Andheri. My wifey caught her today while fueling. She checked with attendents who told her that the car belongs to pump owners.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

this car was under restoration and suddenly the owner lost interest; as a result, it has been lying at the same spot with my mechanic for over four years now. from last 8-9 months, i've been trying to reach out to the owner to find out whether he would sell it but no luck yet.

experts comment, what make it is? and how restorable from this point? engine is started every 5-6 months once.

It's a 60's VW Beetle. If the bodywork and engine are ok, it probably won't need much work other then a good clean-up, some missing parts (tail-lights, head-lights, front bumper, etc), and a tune up.

The bodywork/paint look all right in these pictures, and if the engine is started up every six months, it's probably in decent shape too, so it should be a relatively easy restoration. Where exactly is this?

Paint looks good, but i suppose it's only a topcoat . The rusting near the floor may be a sign of rust hidden under the paint. Have a good look under the carpet for rust. Specially since it's a Mumbai car. The rest as randonusername has said, parts are easily available, n if the engine is running you are good go.
Incase you are not interested do let me know, as i would be interested. Do let us know what price the owner quotes.

Remarkable Should be a 1960 going by the specs. The car is in a very good nick to get running from the kind of condition it is in right now. Its worth saving this car.

All the best buddy, do try your best to save this fellow, if you have lost interest, there are many takers here, please help another petrol head save this car

Hi

Don't know if this is the correct thread, in a hurry to post as I just spotted a big black Morris towed in at the breaker. Looked bigger than the usual small ones.

If someone is interested they can hopefully still find it on the road connecting CST Road and BKC. Couldn't stop as I was in a hurry plus of course the rains.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

So, a little Wikipedia 'research' tells me that the car that I glimpsed could be one of these. Even if I am wrong, hope that black beauty gets saved by an enthusiast.

Spotted this classic truck at a PWD campus at Bhandara near Nagpur. Can anyone identify the make and model of this beauty?

Appears to be a Bedford, produced here by Hindustan Motors. Nice find.

It must be having the original engine too! The cluster of meters are from the later generation. It used to come with a full size "Made in England" meter, (not sure whether it was Smiths) with the glass enclosing the speedo, fuel and temperature and other gauges (like older Fiats). This Indian, Autometer kind came along in 1965 with the indigenisation.
And the J 6 came along in the early 1970's.
So this one is a model from 1965-70 perhaps.
