We probably have more Lamborghinis in India than this.

Thieves not from the smart lot definitely to try and steal such an easy-spot .

In any case, she is left to rot and I have seen her not moved from that location for over 3 months now. Seems like it was abandoned at this car sale guy who since left it to rust since no one wants it.

Have been seeing her for many days when i pass the place, but the word abandoned didn't cross my mind even once, cause just 4 years back it was shown in the Geared auto show in Kanakakunnu palace grounds. From there it has reached this state.
Now it looks truely abandoned, dieselising an 80s FWD american sedan, even though it came with a diesel engine option, most probably i guess he tried plonking in an Isuzu. The owner must have been really messed up to do such a thing.

Are you sure its the same vehicle?? Quite a few differences, namely the front grille.

And the beautifully executed restoration has apparently executed the beautiful original side-trims?!

Fantastic Restoration

So glad to see a classic getting its life back, and that too in such a tasteful outcome. Congratulations to the Resto team and the one who took a heart to put this beauty back on road.

So that means, this pic deserves to go back to Classics & Vintage Cars in India.

Yes it is, or could be a 600 too. Does this car qualify for this category though? Agreed it is in bad shape.

But to see that it has a Standard Super 10 front grille:

This is for sure a Fiat 500 F model (which was produced between 1965-69) they came with non-suicide doors as can be seen in the pictures. 500F was succeeded by 500L which was the luxurious version on this Fiat 500's. These 500 models were popularly called "Bombino".

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Hi,

This Vanguard was a well maintained running car till the demise of its owner after which it was subject to lack of care and unwillingness to sell to someone who could care for it. It was finally given the axe for a pittance (from what i heard, i hope it was saved, but i doubt it). I did study in the same school in which it sat quietly for a long time, suffering in a corner, till the final bell rang.

regards,

Srinand.

What a sad sight!! A real shame for such a complete, original car! The chrome and other bright work still have their gleam! Looks all the more appealing with the fog lights.

Any idea what kind of person the car went to? Any more pics. of it, atleast on FB?

Hi Stanher,

The car was indeed very complete, it was falling apart, but right there, nobody touched anything on the car. I grew up next to the car (since i went to primary and middle school there!) watching it slowly become a storage area and then a dumping bin. My father offered to restore it for the school which was refused, i constantly kept a watch on it for an impending disposal for years to come. Then one day i heard it was indeed disposed to someone for a pittance, the buyer had apparently hacked it to pieces so as to accommodate it into a tempo. That to me definitely sounds like the scrapyard unless i am very mistaken and the source has misinformed me. So unless a miracle ensued, i pretty much think it was scrapped.

I never had the thought of taking pictures of it in all the years i was watching it. This is the only picture i have seen of it. I will try and see if i can find any other pictures from other sources and definitely post it.

regards,

Srinand.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Here's an interesting "custom" that I found parked near our home.
Looks like it has't moved for a few years, maybe he was embarrassed to drive it?
