A couple of team bhpians in B'lore have posted pics. of this very car earlier, the last one being Pavan Kadam, who stays very close to this place.

And each time, the car seems to be deteriorating more and more! Now the hubcaps and one headlamp ring are gone!!

He told me that he'd try and contact the owners sometime.

Should be a late 1940's or very early 1950's Vauxhall Wyvern.Very bad state of decay.

Righto Anjan, quite certainly a Vauxhall - Wyvern or Velox ??
The car doesn't seem to be that bad though - I can see only minimal rust.
May be a nice project..

Hard to tell which one, but definitely a post-war Vauxhall, known as seires 'L' or the 'lip' series Vauxhall.

'not sure if it can make a good project though, by the looks of it, its been converted into a storeroom (which explains the windows etc being sealed shut and the various locks used for the doors) most likely for the mechanic to keep his stuff!

Sonu, I see many of the vehicles there still have the 'B*T' regns. intact, JSR originally being part of Bihar. But now that it's part of Jharkand, havent they been converted to JH-xx regns?

Apart from the later locks on the Vauxhall, there is one lock on an after market hinge fitted to the boot (right side) presumably by the owner, showing that it was insecure with the OE lock even in those days, in that part of the country.Even I had seen many Ambasadors in Kolkata with a second lock on the boot.
Believe the original registration if preserved with the State permission beats everything else. Even in Maharashtra we retain the original Bombay state registrations. Just look at the number of BM and BY series we have in rallies.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

@Shyam: You got it right. The pics were sent to me by my BIL. Its a converted store room of mechanic.
The B** series numbers are still valid on many vehicles. so much so that my missus 2000 Kinetic Honda is still bears BR-16 number.

but its a different case in MH- it was mainly the change in name of the state, previously known as Bombay Presidency, involving a little realigning of the state AFAIK. Same thing even in case of TN (where the old Madras state/district regns. are still valid) and KA (where the old Mysore state regns. are also still valid), but in case of Jharkand, it was a case of a state being bifurcated and these places (Jamshedpur etc.) becoming part of an entirely different state.
Hence my doubt.

Re: Rest in Peace...Pics of Resting Vintage and Classics

Here is an old Vauxhall, that I clicked on Sunday, on the outskirts of Santiniketan. The car is pretty intact, but I don't like the shape of these cars, and probably belongs to the owner's of the popular eatery whose premises the car is in.

Prithvi

Re: Rest in Peace...Pics of Resting Vintage and Classics

The period Black number plates with the riveted numbers in aluminium and Bonnet Logo is worth saving.

The whole car itself might be worth saving...it might get saved too, for all we know.

God ! These were handsome models.. almost look like they've been punished.
Imagine this Velox in a lovely two-tone paint scheme.

I can certainly imagine the one I'm helping restore (at glacial speed! :()...it's a Wyvern though.

@kasli- How did you know these are Velox's btw? Did you check with the owner? The only major noticeable difference from the Wyvern is the bonnet badge at the front, plus full chrome side 'pattis' (wyvern had painted ones).
