Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Hello,

Refer my post yesterday about a garage in Katraj, Pune.

I had a word with the garage owner and i got following information.

1. Burried under the bushes are Austin Somerset, Some model of Morris, Dodge utility vehicle, Standard Gazel and a Hillman.
2. The white imported car is a Nissan
3. The black beauty is an Austin
4. He claimed to have papers for all of them.
5. For prices he prefers a face to face meeting.
6. He doesnt mind us going there and cleaning the bushes on our own to see the cars. I request you guys for some help in that..

I think this must be Arab's place at Katraj. He had plenty of assorted junk. The Gazel was very nice, MTK registered, now possibly beyond restoration. He is a very difficult and unreasonable man to deal with from my experience. Which is why everything has gone in the ground.

Very true , sometimes it becomes so much irritating dealing with this 'gentalman'

He had lots & lots of parts, all have gone to ground or rust , had he been a little positive/professional with the buyers/enthusiasts ,he would have had made atleast tripple the money + goodwill .

There is no doubt that Puneits frequenting more to Mumbai dealers ,even for a small 'skrew' because of fellows like thease.( Going to Mumbai even prooves more benificial ,thats my experiance )

I will suggest one thing to fellow BHPians about people like thease , stick to your own (affordable) price & never really hope for a deal . If the deal is made its a bonus ,otherwise go to Mumbai

Looks like i have found a notorious man to deal with. I am planning to really see if he becomes reasonable with one of these cars.

Incidently Kalos bhai.. What do you think of the black Austin? Is it any good?
Through the bushes i could see that the Gazel's body was holding on and noticed that headlights were still in place..

Any current pics. of the Gazel??

Not that I'm interested, I'm not too fond of Gazels...but I do know that one through karl.

It was complete, and if it still is, could atleast donate a few parts for one that is undergoing restoration here.

But luckily you managed to get the Gazel's hubcaps off him, didnt you?

PS: Here are pics. of the car in question when it was at the guy's previous place (Nanapeth?)

Here is what the car looked like when karl photo'd it around 2003(?):

The guy had a Pennant too at his old place, which was unnecessarily destroyed in a movie shoot of 'Khakhi' many years ago!

Yeah i agree.. With no hopes of working out the deal, less chances of frustration are there. I am going to dig deeper and get some pics of those cars. Then i can take the chance whether to go ahead or not..

Tried to find the owner. But no one knows. It is lying outside a defunct bungalow. One day they will demolish it and probably the car will vanish.

You just need to take the lane of Syndicate Bank which is parallel to CMH Road. You can easily spot it.
