Jeepster09 Those cars are two villages away and I just had bankanpeda and chai with the garage owner and Im talking about North Goa. So I guess the "South Goa" part is a typo or a slip. If you peeped in the shed on the left as you entered you would see a convertible fiat and one more beetle and a few scooters

yeah Karlos knows where this place is. I've posted pics two years ago of some of the VW's. VW Splitscreen knows the garage owner too.

That golf is missing the head. There is a story to it... apparently the garage owner wanted to buy this car for years but the owner kept saying he didnt want to sell. All the scrap dealers were told by the garage owner that if they ever came across a Vw they must inform him. So one day he was shown this car by the scrap dealers...they asked him for twice what they bought it for. Anyway he got it for the original price but in the meantime the scrap dealers took off the head and thats why it remains un used. Anyone has a head for that the owner is a buyer

The blue car is a ford too

I wrote in another thread that its difficult to get good labour here. Hence most of the cars are in this condition. The owner himself is painting such is the sad state.
cheers

Why doesnt he just import a head from the us? Someone who lives there could get it for a pittance at a junkyard. The freight will probably cost more than the head itself but it all shudnt add upto much. Maybe the cost of a brand new head of the average car sold in india

Thanks for the information Deutscheafrikar.
Jeepstertoo has been very helpful.

The trouble is finding a head for this engine will be a bit difficult as its a 1.5 diesel engine and not the 1.6 Diesel engine which came in the Series 2 MK1 golf. Ebay UK or Ebay Germany will be the best place to find 1. I will try and look for 1.
Damn the scrap dealer who took the head off

Do you know the state of the body work or the interior, any chance if you could get some pics. This is a lovely car and it s shame to see it rusting away.

Cheers once again.

Deutscheafrikar,

What you are saying is correct, the place should be in North Goa,we were rushing thru and seeing a lot of places hence there was some confusion.

Thanks for setting it right here.

Regards,
Sanat,

Thanks for the pic buddy. It looks good but needs a lot of body work from the pics.

If this is a RHD then its ultra rare as the 3 Door Diesel models were made only in LHD for the German and American markets. Only 4 Doors came to the UK unless on Special order or they were a VAN.

One of this car was also featured in one of Rajesh Khanna's movie. Don't know which one it was.

This one looks like a 77/78 model.

The Golf is a Iconic car as it was the 1st hot hatch in the world and started the trend of Hot hatches.

The curiosity about this car grows further

Once again thanks for the info...
