Looks like a pre-war Opel Kadett K38/KJ38 (1937-40)
-- one of Opel's earliest monocoques.

When Hitler lost World War Two, the Soviets grabbed the Opel plant and machinery at Rüsselsheim and from 1948 to 1956 manufactured this car as the Москвич 400/420.

Offtopic: Have you seen the very unique (and India's biggest) Balram temple in Panna, built by Maharaja Rudrapratap Singh (1848-1893). Also Bajirao Peshwa's Mastani (Rana Chhatrasal's muslim daughter) hailed from Panna -- city of diamond mines.

Why people do an engine conversion and ruin the originality of the car is beyond me.

Most of the Willys jeeps were converted from a Petrol to a Diesel ruining the originality of the jeep and making original petrol ones hard to find

I remember the 'imported car' being a Fiat Balila, I think registered MRX 44.

The car in Julie(1975) was a 1939 Fiat 1100E Musone.
with the vertical lift-type door handles.

One of my friend from Goa spotted this Chevy Bel Air rotting to earth near his residence in Vasco.

Its a 1968 Chevy Belair and has been dieselied (vandalized). Note the oddball truck type of floor shift gear lever jutting out from under the dash.

guys if you can get this machine, do go ahead. yeah you will have to spend lakhs but it will be awesome. the dieselised engine is a good excuse to import a brand new guaranty chevrolet engine, the ones seen on overhaulin. those crate engines are remanufactured to the same specs as the original. you will get engines producing 400hp with 87 octane fuel. obviously you pay the price of a brand new v8. the most expensive engine on the site is for 13k dollars. a big block chevy producing more than 600 hp in stock form, obiously the small block engines are cheaper. so if you guys find dieselised chevys mopars and fords. dont let that stop you. the engines and i mean NEW ones are available IF you can shell out the cash.

Incidentally, such an Opel Kadett of the 1930's was also owned by Thespian Prithvi Raj Kapoor- maybe it was his first car. The Kapoors are sentimentally attached to this car and it is on display in the premises of the Prithvi Theatres. When I saw its picture about a decade back it was in a rotting condition.
