@Ravi,
Sad to see all these beauties rotting to earth, especially SS80 as they also are becoming much rarer to see.
Surprise to see the wheel caps still intact on both of those Prefects.

@Ram: Thanks for your words. The beautiful structure (which i would loosely describe as "Indian Baroque") is located at a 10 minute walk from the Akola ST bus stand, near a "kaaryaalaya" (wedding hall) called SanghviWadi.
Only one room on the ground floor appeared inhabited. The rest - probably locked in litigation - stood, trying to hold its own amid five storey residential matchboxes and garish new-age showrooms.
Forlorn it stands, with only memories of a grander past serving as sustenance.. Wonder what will happen to it five years hence ?

Off topic: Your writing and Photographs of the magnificient Peshwa - era structures is fascinating ! Thanks a lot for the link. I've sent you a PM.

Good to see you having a flair for old houses too. It doesn't look uninhabited though, although definitely deteriorating.

Certainly nice pics Ravi. From what I can see in the pictures, both the Prefects can perhaps be purchased and restored to one good piece.
Are any of them for sale as, I have an E83W, Ford Thames Utelicon (British sidevalve Ford Estate Van) under restoration. Please see E83W | Fordson & Ford Thames 10cwt van
and in the menu Indian minibus/van and my photosite S.Srivardhan's Photographs :: Fotopic.Net
which has pictures. These can be donors for parts as the e83W is the same platform as the Prefects.

there is a cinema hall in my colony (green park, new delhi) called uphaar.
back in 1997 , while screening border(the famous hindi war film) a fire broke out and 59 people died. the building still stands but lies unused. unlike a lot of cinema halls , this one doesnt have underground parking. the parking at uphaar is at ground level, so you can still peek into the parking and this is what i found

The 800 and the Contessa are disintegrating all right, but are neither classic nor vintage.

There is a Black Beetle lying in a garage off Veera Desai Road in Andheri. I see it regularly. I have a picture of it somewhere, will post it soon.

I remember coming across this gallery long ago. A really odd-looking jeep, kinda like a cross between a regular jeep and a willys station-wagon!

There were also pics. of a junked Standard 20 van and a Plymouth (rather, remains of it!) in the same site:

Anyone who could identify what model the Plymouth would've been going by the chassis and engine?

And here's a Fiat select rusting by the roadside in Madras, taken by suren181 on his recent trip there. Posting on his behalf.

Maybe worth a try for chennai bhpians??
