I'm not sure if you knew this, but the SD1 was made as the Standard 2000 in India, by Standard Motor Products, Madras in the 80s. Here it unfortunately sold with not the original SD1 Rover engine but a grossly underpowered fuel-guzzling local unit fashioned out of a Vanguard engine! And coupled with an equally inefficient gearbox, which ultimately sang the otherwise good car's swansong in India. You can find more info. on the Indian SD1 here:

Hi

All these cars are parked Premanand Varnekars garage...I saw the VWs too but not the Rover - its not there now. Whats interesting there is a Lambretta open ld which is wrapped up by a grown up tree now - to take it out now one will have to cut the tree!

Cheers!

There used to be blue colored std2000 with the Moothoot group in Kerala.
their hometown being Kozhenchery used to see that regularly till about 3-4 years ago. seemed to have all the original bits and pieces
had a 3 digit Pathanamthitta registration also, the rumour was that they were not interested in selling that car because it proved to be their lucky charm!!!

I actually love the design of the standard 2000. Would love to modify one some day.

Its really sad to see the FIAT in this sorrow condition, after they are in huge demand these days. Looking like its a Select or SuperSelect.
Look at that original wheel cap on the rear left wheel !!!

Going by the tell tale signs (hinges on the dicky) the car is a Select and after all these years of neglect, look at the bumper still in good shape.

Naahi re.. only one wheel is original, that too has no clips !
The interior's a mess too - Nothing original. Being a Pune car, the body may be in good nick, though. Not much rust.
