By lifetime Tax, do you mean the tax to be paid only until the vehicle is 15 years old, following which there is no tax, but only fitness to be renewed every 5 years? As is the system in AP.

About that Grey car in delhi. It is a known car and has been lying there since years. Forget about it, it will never be sold. Karl, remember that DVD I made you, There are pics of this car in that.

EDIT: About the car transfer thing. You are just re-registering an old car. Not a new car. Emission norms DO NOT apply.

Harit, does the rule apply to old farm equipment as well? we have a tractor (in Maharashtra) probably from the 1940's -50's that was never registered. Is it possible to get it registered?

'been seeing this dolphin rotting away for quite some time. It was first parked on the other side of the road before being dumped at this garbage dump near the rear entrance of the bus station. 'not sure if the engine is intact.

Seen this Maruti 800 (SS 80) rotting to earth near Shivaji Park Area of Dadar.
This car is first used to be outside the building compound & regularly in use, don't know why happened this to it now.

Sad! Look at the state of the front door! I doubt if she could be restored.

If I'm not mistaken, I think this car's owned by an old man who also has a Black Vauxhall, which is a far worse state, pics. had been uploaded on this thread before. It was mentioned then that the owner also has an SS80 in a similar state.

No no, Shyam. That one is in South Mumbai, and that SS80 is brown in colour.
BTW the black Vauxhall you speak of, got carted away finally, sometime in November - December. The SS80 still sits there, with its 'roof mounted swimming pool'.

Oops, sorry for the mix-up! Sad to hear about the Vauxhall! But of course it was far too gone already anyways...!
As for the SS80, does it have water in the roof all the time?? If so, it'll soon have a roof-mounted drain as well!

Yes. But lifetime tax is concessional if certified by VCCCI.

This is a tough one. Normally not for commercial vehicles, how do you classify the tractor even if it is in private hands? Do you have all the original documents like bill of sale etc.? Next time I am in Pune try to show me the docs as this has to be looked into.

Cheers harit

Here are two beauties rotting away in central Baroda (already nothing is left to salvage). Sadly I could not see any onther vehicles of our common interest than these two during my stay.

Wow, 2 yank lorries!! The first seems to be a chevy and the 2nd one (with steering wheel) must be a Dodge. Sad to see them gone to seed! they'd both make great hot-rods though!

I have seen lot of carts in Gujrat made out of wheels of these trucks, this proves their ruggedness apart from being cheap at the scrapper shop.
