This SS80 dies a slow death in an apartment parking lot in central Mumbai.
(now that we've officially agreed the SS80 is a classic - so this pic in this thread).

I too posted a pic. of another dying one today, in this thread:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/post-1...s80-dx-37.html

Sad to see this car like this! It seems more like left in a driveway rather than in the lot.
What colour is it btw? Cannot make out properly- chocolate brown too?

Yup I saw the one you posted - this one's worse.. The colour believe it or not, is white ! I see her very often - the apartment block is under construction. They physically push her and move her around when they need space.
Doesn't the car appear to be giving a mock smile, so to say ? Laughing off the circumstances ? Even saying 'destroy me but my soul will remain'
Umm I'm getting to philosophical I think, but every abandoned car seems to tell a story and have an expression. Moves me to tears, almost unfailingly.

Even I'd assumed the colour of the SS 80 to be brown/chocolate, but after SuperSelect's confirmation of it being white, on close observation you do notice hints of it in the part under the front bumper.
A lot of these vehicles seem to face the same fate here in Mumbai.

It must belong to some former tenant of the erstwhile property who refuses to let go of his right to park a car in the new one, believe it or not could be even protected by some court order. Otherwise they would have scrapped it long ago. Such things happen in South Bombay. In my lane there must be atleast 5 SS80's occupying street parking, I have never seen any of them move.

Obviously this owner does not know that afte Team BHP has officially concoured classic car status to the SS80's his stock has just gone up the roof Next time you pass by,Ravi please tell him so.

Seen a HERO MAJESTIC 50 Moped rusting with a bhangarwala in Dadar. It still had a original speedometer with HERO sign inside it.
He says that someone has given it to him as a scrap, it doesn't have RC.

A couple of years back I had spotted these 2 cars resting peacefully in an open plot in Pune

A very complete and original Ford Corsair

A historically significant Chevy Corvair - the car that sparked off safety legislations to be enforced in the US after Ralf Nader's book "Unsafe at any speed" pointed out how dangerous the car was.

A friend called me yesterday to tell me about 2 junked classics dragged and dumped outside his house - this is what we saw!

Ouch!!
The last time when you'd seen them, they were salvagable at least.
The Chevrolet has been vandalized, to say the least. One can't even tell the color it used to be!!
The Ford will slowly follow the same feat.

A real pity, especially the Corvair! Anything more on the story on these cars?
Corsair still looks restorable.

how apt is this a Corvair and a Corsair going to heaven together ? Nice.

Since these two were rudely awakend from their slumber can we assume there are plans afoot to resurrect them ?

There is a Corvair Monza Turbocharged convertible with Rashid Bhai what a car it was to drive unforgetable.

Are their any other coupes or for that matter sedans known to around ?

Both look restorable to me but I am sure there are other issues which will take them to heaven like missing papers etc etc

Is this in Deccan Gymkhana? It looks like another Poona bunglow may have been reduced to dust behind the shuttering!

Thats the sad part, Wonder why T-BHP is setting wrong trends in Automobile history, Its really a shame and insane to categorize SS80 as a classic.

Getting back to Karl's topic.

OMG, What a pity to see such nice cars going to the grave.

The Chevy as per me should be a rear engined car.

Any info on the cars, is it up for grabs, i surely would love to have them, papers / no paper's

could somebody do me a favour of finding out how to get these two beauties.
