I dont think it is a Ponton. The rear is too curvy & short.

Sad to see the other cars too left like this! The Fiat is actually a select with a superselect grille. But otherwise remarkably original! The Millecento badge was fitted on cars in other markets, as opposed to the FIAT 1100 badge that Indian 1100s had.

The 2nd merc. seems to be what was called as Pagoda- willing to be corrected on this. By the looks of it, I suspect it (and maybe all these cars are) is owned by someone who gives such cars out for film shoots only, and never bothers to use or restore them! Trooper had photo'd a similar fiat and a white & green Pennant (MDM 48) owned by a similar guy some time ago although they may not be on team bhp.
Sad!
The cedric was lying inside the house in a similar state, without the tyres. I really liked that car. Wish someone would take it and restore it ?

About the other cars, they are parked right opposite to my residential colony. The guy regularly parks some vintages/classics there. I am sure he is a dealer.

The older Merc in primer is a Ponton.

I was curious about the white Merc with the numerals all over it. Is this a genuine two door car or has it been altered from a four door. The roof has been chopped off for sure though.

Could you post a pic of this Merc taken from the side please.

As wasif says, its indeed a ponton. The rear end was like this only in these cars, later came the fin-tail model aka "heckflosse"

Hi,

The grey topped car is a ponton, that is obvious.
Looking at the white numbered Merc's grill, it is a Mercassador or an Ambacedes.

Actually, it is a Mercedes 114 coupe chopped, I was to get pictures of this car since long. ut it was just not sent inspite of friendly requests.
No idea about the engine though. Sad for the 114 coupe, these are rare in India. I believe that parts of the roof are available with the guy.

Cheers harit

I too had that doubt, but it is not an amby grill, I think it is a grill of a later model merc. It had the 3 pointer right in the middle. Will try to get a snap of that.

The merc is certainly a ponton.
Since Harit knows about the "Compact" Mercedes i will settle for the W114 coupe, else i would have termed it as a W115 chop job. Its a Wannabe W113 "PAgoda top" Sl. At least the grill is made to be like a W113

Sad to do this to any car

It is a 115 chop job. It is a diesel judging by glow plug heater switches

Edit - my bad...it is converted to diesel as the glow plug heater switches were added on. The rear chrome which garneshes entire boot lip gives it away.

How could they!

I had seen a similar Merc coupe (chop job) some time back in Bangalore and was available for sale, it came with a matadoor engine though.

Does the one shown above with a KA19 registeration?

Anyways some pix, enjoy maadi

Very sad about the mercs. the 114 coupe itself is a very rare car here. Wonder why anyone would want to chop it. Also, the grille is from an amby with little mods done to fix the merc logo to it. The guy tried to give iit the W113 look i presume!
