It was later sold as most of his family moved to the States and went to a dealer / restorer / collector in Sec Bad. This gent painted it black and had the interior lining done in a non period maroon fabric.

In all probability it was sold on and is in Bangalore now. I just got to Hyderabad today and will be checking on this amongst others.

BTW flew over Bombay last night and was wondering what you, Karl, V16 etc would have been up to !!
Hi Wasif,
This Chrysler is now white and in Mumbai.
BTW, you have not mentioned what time you flew over Mumbai.
Let us assume 12AM, Karl was in bed in Aurangabad, V16 was counting his days takings at the counter and myself was busy teasing others by posting.

Cheers and do call me!

Oh ME, i was wide awake till 4:30am, at the time you flew past, i wass at work (as Harit said) and then on, posting on the forum and watching a movie at the same time at home.

Karl must be trying to remember the number of the last 342 cars that drove past his house that evening ..
and Harit must be digging deep to reveal more car history from his archives.

Standard Van

Saw this Standard ambulance found at a Govt hospital resting to death, this vechicle seems to have been parked while in good condition and then left to the mercy of nature, pretty good van. All parts are intact. Looking at this van I thought of having a similar kind one day carrying my classic motorcycles, scooters. How about that folks?.

This is really sad! I've seen quite a few of these '20' vans all over the South that were very original in condition eventually left to the elements and vandalism...! Especially the govt-owned ones! Pity!

This one van can still be restored....but being a Govt. vehicle, they won't even know that it exists, (nor even care!) and when they do, they'd just auction it off as scrap!

Just out of curiosity, which hospital in Hyd. is this?

A similar van found from my family album. The van was almost new when the pic was taken.

Nice period shot! But as with most period photos, we can only wish there was a clearer view left of the van!

but just curious- uh, was this pic. of some fitness/body-building club?

Stanher, nope. This is a picture of my dad and his friends during a trip to one of the tourist spot in Kerala . The place is either Idukki or Munnar.

Yes it was. And the Diesel version was known to have a troublesome "Houbourn Eaton (submerged)" fuel pump that caused the early 20 to have fewer buyers than it's competition those days.

A Standard 8/10 (??) is lined up at the Shivajinagar guijiri for scrapping. Car has no papers. I will not be able to help anyone get in touch with the owner, as he was not there, hope someone else who sees this post of mine can rescue this car or worst case scenario, some usable parts, maybe? Pics:

The car's a mid/late 50s Standard 10. 'could be a Super 10 too.
A real pity that it is to be broken! But it can be a donor for a lot of parts. 'hope your friend will help me out in this regard!

Sad sight to see the car in such a state. Also feel helpless that we cannot do anything about it!
