But the car was MUCH better and more complete back then, including the side-trims, glasses etc. intact! How much it has deteriorated!!

Is it possible for you to yank off some of the cosmetic parts, viz. side-trims, "Standard" front and rear badges?? If it 'belongs' to the garage, the owner may not mind letting you have them- from my knowledge aobut experiences of classic enthusiasts from abroad who've visited India, it makes them feel great to give a 'souvenir' to a foreigner who appreciates something in their possession!

Also how's the condition of the dashboard? Any pics. of that as well?

It is parked in front of a construction site near the garage. Can ask the garage owner if he knows who owns it. It is close by and i can take more photos of the interior.

Nothing is impossible as we have seen, techniacally or otherwise. It would just not be economically viable.

W123s are not rare cars. We can see many a W123 in better condition chugging along our roads. A lot of them used as daily drives. Mine is.

Parts are easy to find (almost everything is locally available, new and scavenged) and so are better cars than these. One would spend two to three times their worth to get them out of such a condition. Its better to use them as parts cars.

These cars especially the second one (white) is a rust bucket. Not worth it is my opinion but if someone were to take up this restoration job, it can definitely be done but not recommended.

I remember seeing a similar mint A40 Farina in Delhi a few years ago. It was white. Looks like this was abandoned during the process of painting ir something. Sad.

This is a mid sixties Austin/Morris 1100. These cars had a unique 'Hydroelastic" suspention which consisted of bags on all four wheels with hydraulic liquid.

Revolutionary car, ran away with many awards after her launch in 1962 or 63. Austin, Morris, Wolseley, MG, Riley, Vanden Plas - various names in the BMC and BL folds is what this was known by. Was also made in Spain, under some name that I don't remember now, Antui, Austi or something like that. Yes, as pointed out by Dussey had a special suspension - the hydroelastic suspension, which could be a dog sometimes, especially as the car aged. Was the reason of an early demise for many here in India. Have seen many left to the Sweet Chariot like this one here! Engines were 1100 and 1300 AFAIK and Sir Alec Issigonis' pet front wheel layout. Also known as AD16, Austin Design No. 16 or something like that in code.

AAHH the landcrab, known for its odd shape there was one for sale in mumbai till some time ago. If restored well and in the right paint scheme makes a spunky vehicle to drive as a daily use practical classic.

One of those took me home as a new born. It was a stretched Mini in all respects. It was the UK's best selling car for many years until the Ford Cortina and Escort came along. Sadly the 1100 was never updated and died a natural death. Its successor, the Allegro was hell.

I guess it was known as Morris 1100 in Europe, as mentioned in this page...incidentally, this car happens to be in Spain, if I got the meaning of Espagne correct!

Personally I like the A40 Farina better though.
