An elderly couple who still live in a lovely little old house right behind my old school happen to have a similar one in blue since as long as I can remember. It sounds like a Diesel one, no idea if it's the original engine or otherwise. We also once lived in the same colony, so I'd often see them driving around to the market in it, sometimes taking their Alsatian dog in the back seat!

Austin A 40 Dorset 1948

Infact the A 40 had a unique braking system: Hydraulic front brakes, and mechanical rear brakes...so in effect brakes could never fail. The A40s engine also went on to create the legendary B series engine methinks...
Do you have any contacts for someone for the Austin A40. I am restoring a 1948 A 40 Dorset and need some parts.

I've been seeing this car for many years. I clicked this photo last year.
Sometimes wonder who the owner is and will they sell.

The owner is willing to to sell the car only if he manages to get a good price for it. Exterior wise the car looks very good. The lights and bumpers are intact and it looks like this car has a sun-roof. I had spoken to the owner once but never got a chance again.

Gogi, this is the same car I was talking to you about.

This car is lying at Santacruz, Mumbai and has been in the same state since many years. There is an extremely rude person living in this dilipated structure. BTW is this a Ponton by any chance and what is the owner asking ?

A really sad sight I (alongwith stampro) happened to see during my brief trip in Madurai this week!

A Standard 20 mini-truck, presumably an '86 model, going by the no. This was the last model, known as "micro", with a different bodystyle from the previous version (which I like more though.)

On enquiring, 'found out that this was a company-owned truck that was seized by a local bank due to defaulting on some loan/HPA provided by them, and got stuck in a pending lawsuit! I wonder if it made any difference even if the case was settled now!
The employees at said company who told us this were very surprised to find someone asking about such a vehicle!

Yes chief. I didi visit the very place you told me it was parked at. There were at least two dogs that appeared from the car and charged at me when i entered the building. There was no watchman and maybe no one in the house too. I tried to see if there was anyone available but of no avail. I am still interested. The price must have gone down by now, whatever it was, i hope but the car has deteriorated further. Sad!! Some more time of such neglect and it will only sell as scrap.

Been seeing this car in that same spot for 15 + years. The guys dad bought it new and has passed away and the son does not move out of that house much. They are well to old residents of the area. He will not sell that car anytime soon is what I was told but it will be sold! Hope it remains till then as! That garage was completely covered with plastic

Man i feel like kicking those guy who treat their car like this. There are lots of cars which are becoming extinct.
All said ,who is bothered ?? what is the effort we can take to avoid this happening ??

I most of the cases its because of the huge amount of tax that make the owner dump these wonder in the as is where condition.repairing cost (maintaining cost) will X amount and tax is 75% of X.

Government should take some steps to encourage such classic and vintage cars/vans/trucks.

Surely you mean the Morris is under restoration. Both the W123s are beyond it.
